A new comedy cartoon from Illumination and Universal Pictures began development in September 2017, and the official release of the 4th part of the Despicable Me franchise was confirmed in February 2022. Mufasa: The Lion King

Mufasa: The Lion King is the expected prequel to the remake of the cult story, the release of which is timed to coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the original film. The show's development was first confirmed in September 2020, the cast was confirmed in August 2021, and the film's title was officially announced in September 2022, but production slowed in July 2023 due to issues with the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Despite the controversial opinion of the audience, the 2019 remake collected an impressive box office, and Disney decided to renew it for another part. It is expected that the feature film will reveal the backstory of the relationship between Mufasa and Scar through Rafiki's story with comments from Timon and Pumbaa.
