At the third Astra TV Awards ceremony, held in January 2024, the series Attack on Titan won in the category "Best Streaming Animated Series or TV Movie", thereby becoming the first anime to win this award. Astra Awards is a prestigious award presented by the organization of film critics in Los Angeles and was originally called Hollywood Creative Alliance, but was later renamed twice.
The history of the Attack on Titan franchise began in 2009, when mangaka Hajime Isayama published the first chapter of the manga in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine. In 2013, a film adaptation from Wit Studio started, and the final episode was released on November 5, 2023, but under the leadership of MAPPA, which was responsible for adapting the final arcs. The work of the new studio was repeatedly criticized by fans. The audience was also unhappy with the length of the anime's release.
The original story tells the story of a trio of friends: Eren Yeager, Armin Arlert and Mikasa Ackerman, who, together with the remnants of humanity, live behind the walls, since in the big world people are in danger in the form of humanoid giants. The lives of the comrades and other residents are divided into “before” and “after” when the Colossal Titan breaks through one of the walls, letting terrible monsters inside.
