Briefly about the events of the previous season
The anime takes place in 17th century Japan and focuses on the main character Mizu, a girl with European and Japanese blood in her veins. Due to her background and appearance, particularly her blue eyes, Mizu has been bullied in the past, with street urchins even attempting to kill her at times. As a girl, she had to endure the death of her mother, after which her heart was filled with hatred.
In the present time, Mizu seeks revenge on four European men and, in order not to attract the attention of patriarchal Japanese society, she hides her atypical appearance and true gender. Previously, the girl learned to wield a sword from a blind but experienced swordsman and now intends to put these skills to use.
In the course of carrying out her revenge, Mizu dishonors the samurai Taigen, who, as a boy, bullied her. The young warrior sets out to regain his honor and follows the heroine. During the first season, from enemies they become, if not friends, then people who have found common ground. Mizu also gains an ally, Ringo, a kind and open guy, who persuades him to accept him as a student.
Akemi, the only daughter of the daimyo of the Kyoto ruler, who longs to marry Taigen, also received a separate storyline. The princess is fighting for the right to make independent decisions regarding marriage and her own destiny.
In the finale, Ringo believes Mizu to be dead and returns to his father, while Akemi refuses to leave with Taigen, remaining in Edo with the shogun's family and father. The girl is on a ship sailing outside Japan. The events of the new season of Blue-Eyed Samurai, in theory, will unfold in London, after all, it is there that the two remaining Europeans are located, who will have to take revenge.
