In Genshin Impact, the Desert Pavilion island is a part of a larger region where Asmoday has preserved the culture of Sumeru. The location has two forms: the upper level contains white, floating ruins, while the lower level contains a city sunken beneath the sand. Since this is only a map sector, a limited number of rewards are available within.
All the puzzles and points of interest of the Desert Pavilion in Genshin Impact
Before exploring the area, complete the Unofficial Chronicle of the Desert Pavilion quest to unlock all the puzzles and hidden areas. Here you'll find a few chests, races, and one torch puzzle. After completing the quest, a dangerous enemy from the Valiant Chronicles will also appear.
Amazing chests
Here you will find two chests with decoration blueprints for your Serenitea Pot.
Chest 1
To collect the chest, be sure to complete the Lost in the Sands quest to be able to use the Scarlet Sand Slate. Travel to the teleporter on the upper level and go to the northwest corner of the map. There you'll see a wall that can be removed with Dex.
Get the wall fragment and climb to the second floor.
Drop the item by using it on the invisible column. Then, rotate the blue mechanism to extend the beam downwards and remove the floor slab.
A hole will appear. Drop down through it and pick up the chest. Inside you'll find the City Street Lamp: "Low Lanternlight" blueprint.
Chest 2
Drop to the ground in the center of the location. There's a locked chest next to the dendrogranum. Take it and hit the target hanging above the cacti.
Dendro Markers will appear above three plants around the lake. Shoot each one in turn to obtain the Shimmering Luster blueprint.
Regular chests
In two versions of the location you will find six chests:
- Under the floating fortress in the green version of the zone. Knock down a pile of rocks with the dendrogranum.
- On the roof of a building in the southeastern part of the map.
- Behind the wall of the floating tower on the southwest side.
- Two chests will appear in the center of the underground zone after the "Unofficial Chronicle of the Desert Pavilion" quest.
- Northeastern edge of the zone. In the window of a sand-covered building.
Torch Puzzle
There's a puzzle with an exquisite chest in the northeast. To solve it, use the Pyro Element on the four visible torches.
To light the invisible torch, hit the flying seed with Electro.
Local legend
Once you complete the "Unofficial Chronicle of the Desert Pavilion" quest, Mardava and a dangerous enemy will appear. Speak with the NPC and begin the fight.
In a separate guide, you will learn how to defeat the local legend, Maha Vasudevayaputra.
Time Challenges
Two runs are located in the dungeon, and one can be found on the surface:
- On the roof of the building next to the fast travel point. Collect 50 particles within the time limit.
- In the corner of the upper platform. Follow the invisible path and collect 25 marbles.
- In the southwest corner, activate the challenge and collect 95 particles.
Rewards
For all points of interest you will receive:
- Primogems;
- enhancement ore;
- memory factors;
- mora;
- weapons and artifacts;
- Blueprints for the Serenitea Pot.

How do I rotate the blue mechanism in the first amazing chest?
Hello! If you're talking about the mechanism on the second floor, just get close to it to activate the "Rotate Cage" function.
What if I did everything as shown, but the cell rotation function still doesn't work? I've tried everything and still nothing.
Have you solved the puzzles in Sumeru? You need to complete them to a certain level.
What are riddles up to a certain level?
Mine is red and there is no function, what should I do?
I have the same problem. Did you manage to figure it out?
Bottom left is a test for 95 particles, I'm only collecting 81, I don't know where the rest are, please help.
When you collect 81 particles, you fly up and on the side where the test began, there will be the remaining particles
You need to pull yourself towards the portal that is to the left of the arrow at the top
Why doesn't the seed get affected by electricity? It just sits there.
I need an electric catalytic converter
There's another timed quest there: open a chest by following an invisible path. It's a little east of Amazing Chest 1. You need to move the column to start it.
I found it and I can't open it, please help 🙏
