Knight of the Crucible Elden Ring refers to optional bosses. A huge armored warrior with a sword and shield is able to carry out quick attacks and defend against any blows, becoming a real headache for low-level characters.
The guide details what abilities the Knight of the Crucible has and how best to defeat him.
Also in a separate article are collected all bosses in order in Elden Ring.
Basic information about the boss
The Crucible Knight is a tall, heavily armored warrior. He holds a large two-handed sword in his right hand, and a huge shield in his left hand, capable of blocking most magical attacks. Despite the lack of connection with the main plot, the boss is considered one of the strongest enemies in early game, and the difficulty of killing him exceeds that of many story bosses.
- The knight is non-story boss - it is not necessary to kill him to complete the storyline.
- To fight him can't summon spirits or call for help players from another world.
- The boss has two phases - after losing some of his health, he grows wings and starts using unique flying attacks.
Where to find Crucible Knight on the map in Elden Ring
First you need to get to the location The Penitentiary on Storm Hill. This place is located near Thunder Veil Castle in the Graveyard and can be accessed only via teleport. Immediately after moving through the portal, you need to move a little to the side and soon an enemy will appear.
The Second Knight can be found in Nokrone. Lake Lukaria has a bell tower that can be opened with a sword key. She will open a passage to a rock and a high bridge, where the Knight of the Crucible will wait. Here he has the status of an ordinary enemy, and 3080 runes drop out for killing him.
Crucible Knight Abilities and Attacks
The boss has two phases of battle. At the first stage, he is able to use the following attacks:
- sword strike - the enemy stomps the ground with his foot and makes a diagonal attack in front of him.
- Series of lunges - The boss deals two quick vertical attacks, sometimes adding a third hit.
- Long lunge - the enemy abruptly approaches the main character and inflicts a powerful penetrating blow with high damage. The boss often uses this attack when the character is being healed with flasks.
- Charged Strike The knight lowers his weapon and sweeps it across the ground, sparking. After a second, he delivers a powerful crushing blow in front of him.
- Shield uppercut - if you get too close to the boss, he will put a shield in front of him and throw the player up with a strong blow.
- Two-Handed Combo – The knight makes a diagonal cut and takes his sword with both hands. Next, he performs a powerful vertical attack, and if the player is nearby, he adds two spinning strikes that deal medium area damage.
Having lost about 40% health, the boss enters the second phase. He creates a magical explosion around him and grows wings, flying up and conducting a heavenly strike. Then he has two new techniques:
- Air Strike – The knight takes off abruptly and quickly swoops down on the character, inflicting huge damage. The attack is difficult to dodge - you need to have time to jump to the side at the last second before hitting.
- Tail strike – suddenly creates a ghostly tail and performs a sweeping blow from a distance. Having lost 70% of his health, the boss will be able to deal two blows with his fairy tail at once, significantly increasing the range of the second attack.
How to beat Crucible Knight in Elden Ring
The knight is considered a very strong opponent even for a pumped character. High health, fast sword attacks, and fast movement around make him a nasty enemy that combines high damage and active evasion from most ranged attacks.
General Tips
For a confident victory, it is better to follow a few simple tips:
- It's better to leave the Knight as the last boss of the Graveyard - you must first deal with other enemies in the location, pump the level of the character and then move on to the most difficult battle.
- Step away before treatment - If you try to drink a flask at a medium distance from the boss, he will instantly approach and deal high damage, interrupting the healing.
- Attack a couple of times and retreat - The knight quickly transitions from one attack to another, preventing the player from making long combo attacks against himself. It is worth being patient and taking your time so as not to face his devastating counterattack.
- Watch out for the double tail kick - towards the end of the fight, the boss will start to carry out two consecutive blows with a ghostly tail. The second attack covers most of the arena, forcing it to dodge rather than move away.
- Use parry more often - many of the opponent's blows are easy to parry due to his slowness. So you can break his shock combos and immediately carry out a quick counterattack.
Close combat tactics
Fight in close combat - the most effective strategy against Crucible Knight. Battle tactics very simple: you need to inflict a couple of quick blows, run away to the side and attack again after his combo attacks.
Ranged tactics
Small arms are ineffective against the boss due to his heavy armor. Most spells are also blocked by a huge shield that reduces incoming damage. The enemy is constantly moving around the arena, which makes it difficult to hit him with static magic.
The best tactic for a mage is to immediately apply strongest spell when the boss first appears. Then you need to spam with fast magical attacks that are hard to dodge. When replenishing mana with flasks, you should always move away from the enemy at a sufficient distance.
