remaster Witcher 3 for PC and next generation consoles contains a long list of improvements. The developers have brought a lot of changes since Geralt first went on his exciting journey. Many mechanics that were previously considered “unrealistic to perform” are now commonplace, and this fact is perfectly confirmed by the photo mode built into the game.
New functions and effects, parameters and possibilities allow you to capture the epic expanses of the open world in the best quality. Next, we will take a closer look at the photo mode in The Witcher 3 Next-Gen update.
How to enable photo mode in The Witcher 3
To open photo mode, you must:
- on consoles - simultaneously hold down R3 + L3;
- on a PC - press the "U"(Russian "Г").
Thus, the space surrounding Geralt will freeze, and the player will gain control of the camera. You can activate the photo mode only in the process of exploring the open world. During cutscenes and dialogue inserts, it will not work.
How to use Photo Mode in The Witcher 3 Next-Gen update
After launching the photo mode, the user gets access to the menu window located in the lower right corner of the screen. There is no arrow to control the camera, any actions will have to be performed by pressing the "hot" keys. Basic (on PC):
- W, A, S, D - move the camera.
- PKM - turn the camera.
- «WheelMouse » Zoom in or out of the camera.
- Space - take a screenshot.
- Tab — show or hide the interface.
- I - exit photo mode.
Switching to the previous or next menu tab is done by pressing "Q" and "E».
Camera
The Camera section boasts two main controls:
- Viewing angle - needed to enlarge or narrow the area that will be captured by the camera.
- Incline - necessary for tilting the camera to different angles.
Depth of field
The Depth of Field section, in turn, has four active sliders:
- Depth of field - changing this parameter allows you to blur the background, thereby focusing attention on the "central" object, or, conversely, make the space surrounding the main model clearer.
- Autofocus - will allow you to concentrate the review on the "central" object.
- Diaphragm The higher the value, the shallower the depth of field.
- Focus distance - the greater the distance to the "central" object, the higher the depth of field.
Effect
The "Effect" section will allow you to create more detailed and clearer screenshots due to the following parameters:
- Exposure - slightly "blur" the image, creating the effect of movement.
- Contrast - will highlight the "central" object, making it clearer in comparison with the surrounding space.
- light areas - if necessary, it will help to lighten part of the image.
- Temperature - the colors in the picture will become warmer (closer to light) or, on the contrary, cold (closer to dark, gray).
- Saturation — will make the colors on the screen more clear and sharp.
- Chromatic aberration - will create color distortions.
- Grain - will add "grain", as in old photographs.
Overlay
«Vignette” from the “Overlay” section, in turn, is needed to create a “dark” frame around the “central” object. For example:

Steam sucks, all I can say is... No photo mode saves
There are no screenshots in the folder!
And yet, you can start the photomod in scenes, go into the documents and find the input.settings file there, open it with a text editor, preferably notepad ++ and find the sub-item [Scene] by search, I have it on line 2329, and write there IK_U=(Action =EnablePhotoMode)
I can't save screenshots...
