Since the game has a large number of combat action scenes, choosing the best weapons for V is an urgent problem for all players. We analyze in detail all the available categories of guns.
All weapons in Cyberpunk 2077 is divided into five types: power, homing, energy, melee and cyberweapons. In addition, it is also classically grouped by type of design into sniper rifles, shotguns, pistols, and more. Types affect gameplay much more than species, and this becomes noticeable from the very first moments of the game.
With melee and cyber weapons, everything is simple. Everything that is necessary for contact combat falls into the first category, from katanas to bits. Cyber weapons are special implants that allow you to gain undeniable advantages in battle and destroy your enemies.
But with firearms, everything is much more interesting. The division into power, homing and energy is not just words. Here, each group of weapons has its own unique features that you need to know in order to complete the game.
Power weapon (standard)
Power weapons are exactly what you expect to see when you hear that name. At first glance, you are waiting for an ordinary firearm, but in fact it has an incredible lethal force. bullets can ricochet off the surrounding space, tear opponents apart and bring unique destruction throughout the surrounding space.
All weapons from this group have multiple mod slots, which makes them more interesting, especially for a long game. Also, power weapons have interesting passive bonuses, for example thermal damage or extra damage from a headshot.
Energy weapons (electromagnetic)
Energy weapons require charging in order to make a powerful shot. However, it guarantees this delay in time by the fact that you only need one shot. And this is not a figure of speech - the lethal force of weapons from this group is incredibly high.
If you do not have time to recharge, you can shoot quickly, releasing one projectile after another. However, in this case, the main feature of this type of firearm is lost. But at the same time, in the heat of battle, this feature can be incredibly useful.
Additional perks in this category also cannot but please a true lover of hot shooting. If you pump them, you can increase your damage and kill with one shot much more often.
Homing weapon (smart)
To use a smart (homing) weapon, you need to install a special implant for your V in your hand. Only with the help of Smartlink the main character will be able to interact with it. Take this into account in your walkthrough, because the installation of implants affects the plot.
Smartlink gives you the ability to turn your weapon into a headshot machine. Just look at the little dot that will appear above your opponent and pull the trigger. After that the implant and weapons will do everything for you.
Even if you shoot left or right, all your bullets will hit right on target. That's the beauty of homing weapons. Isn't it wonderful? With traits like that, it's hard to imagine any passives that can cover that trait.
Melee weapon
Unlike firearms, melee weapons are grouped into one category. However, its diversity knows no bounds. Want to crush enemies on the streets of Night City with a golden baseball bat? Please. Maybe you prefer katana? And they are here too.
In the world of Cyberpunk, melee weapons are more of an auxiliary tool. Shooting here is much more convenient and profitable, so we do not recommend swinging into a clean melee for the first passage.
What to take with you to battle?
Cyberpunk is good because there is no single answer to this question. It is best to have in your arsenal several types of weapons that you can alternate. Self-guided guns are good for those who don't want to get hung up on combat and want to immerse themselves in the story. But for those who like beautiful action scenes, we recommend one of several builds described below:
- Power and energy weapons. By combining these two types of firearms, you will be able to inflict maximum damage on all opponents. If you have time for long shots - take energy, if not - power.
- Power and close combat. The perfect build for the hardcore player, who at the same time wants to get the most atmosphere out of the game. A fairly balanced combination for true Cyberpunk fans.
- Energy and melee. Another build that will suit fans of melee battles. First, opponents are shot from energy with a long reload, and then they effectively achieve it in close combat.
