While traveling through Inazuma, the player encounters many representatives of the local fauna. Unique to this region are the little dancing bear cubs in Genshin impact, which can be seen on any of the islands.
The traveler is free to ignore them, attack ... or go after them. Something interesting will happen.
Who are the tanuki in Genshin Impact?
This is a baked danuki - a harmless animal that is not hostile to the player, on the contrary, he tries to attract attention, as soon as he gets into his field of vision. He usually appears as a dark-haired tanuki with a green leaf on his head and a scarf around his neck.
Noticing the character, the creature begins to sing and dance, and when the player approaches it, the animal dissolves in a cloud of smoke, appearing a few meters away in a second. This is repeated 3-4 times, and then the backe-danuki turns into some kind of object that needs to be interacted with - destroyed or activated:
- Electro monument
- Torch
- pile of stones
- Pot or vase
- wooden box
- treasure chest
- powder keg
- thunder stone
After that, there will be a place for research. But sometimes a living riddle is found immediately in a disguised form. Tanuki takes the form of a chest, which turns into an animal when you try to open it, and if you explore the place where he disappeared, you can find a variety of vegetables. But even these tricksters can be fooled - camouflaged backe danuks are inactive at night. You can also be faster than them and get a reward from the chest without letting them turn back.
Some tanuki will no longer try to run away from the player - this is the trio that appears in one of the quests to cleanse the Sacred Cherry Blossom. They, along with the secret protector of the grove - Iora - are easy to spot in the Tinju forest.
Where to find tanuki in Genshin Impact?
They live throughout Inazuma, but most of them are on the islands of Narukami and Kannazuka. Meeting in the same place can happen several times - backe-danuki come again every day.

Why follow the tanuki?
Bake-danuki belong not only to the harmless fauna, but also to the mysteries of Inazuma. If you follow him and explore the place where this creature disappeared, you can get a reward. It comes in two types and is determined randomly.
In the first case, the tanuki shows affection towards the player and gives an artifact from the healer's or adventurer's set as a reward. In the second, the little trickster does something nasty and leaves up to 3 random vegetables at the place of disappearance.
