In Neverness to Everness, you can take on the “Curly's Gambit” commission while exploring the fairy-tale lands. It is one of the game's Special Challenges. During this quest, you must find chess pieces lost across various parts of the game world and return them to the board to help Curly finish the match.
How to Start the “Curly's Gambit” Quest
Find the chessboard on the road between the camp and Chocolate Volcano, then enter the hidden dimension. Talk to Grandmaster Curly and hear out his request. All subsequent parts of the mission are unlocked by speaking with this NPC.
Neverness to Everness “Solve the Endgame” Quest Walkthrough
There are seven puzzles in total, each requiring you to find a missing piece somewhere on the continent.
Get the Pawn from the Curly Merchant
Following the grandmaster's clues, head to Curly Village and find the Mysterious Curly Merchant in the square. Buy the pawn from the shop for 30,000 gold coins.
Return to the board and place the chess piece on the highlighted square to complete “Endgame I.” Then talk to the little ram again to receive your reward.
Buy Another Pawn
Despite Curly's hint that you should buy another piece, you do not need to do so to complete the second challenge. Simply interact with both points right away to place the pieces in the correct positions and finish the mission.
Find the Rook in the Icy Fields
To obtain the rook for the third puzzle, you must travel to Milk Ice Mountain. Follow the main story quest “Battle with the Dragon” and defeat the Ice Spiked Dragon at the top of the snowy slopes. After the battle, open the chest next to the portal and collect the quest item.
If you completed the story mission before accepting the grandmaster's commission, check your inventory for the “Stone” piece. It is actually the rook and is guaranteed to drop from the chest mentioned above.
Return to the chess player and place the missing pieces on the board.
Get the Knight from the Strange Curly
The missing piece for the fourth puzzle is hidden inside the “Curly Club” dimension. You can enter it through the Dark Curly at the arena east of Crimson Castle.
You do not need to complete the challenge. Simply pick up the knight lying next to the portal and take it back to the chessboard.
Find the Bishop in Crimson Castle
In the Dragon Tower area, where the battle against the Crimson Dragon takes place, collect the chess piece for the fifth puzzle from the rare treasure chest.
Note that if you do not do this in “Story” mode, you will need to reach level 100 before you can access this location on “Challenge” difficulty.
Find the Queen Hidden Somewhere in the Red Mist
For “Solve the Endgame VI,” head to the “Red Mist Invasion” Special Challenge and defeat the two elite enemies inside—the tiger and the dragon. You will receive the queen as a reward.
If there are no enemies inside the dungeon, you have encountered a bug. To fix it:
- after completing the tabletop campaign on “Story” difficulty, start it on “Challenge” difficulty and visit this activity once you have reached at least level 75;
- if the first method does not work, repeat these steps on “Nightmare” difficulty.
Buy the King from the Curly Merchant
For the final part, visit the Mysterious Curly Merchant again and buy the king from her for 300,000 currency.
“One Curly Move Ahead” Achievement
To earn the achievement, complete all of the grandmaster's commissions and thereby finish the “Curly's Gambit” mission. The entry will appear in the “Clockwork Rhythms” section and allow you to claim 10 prize Annulites.
Rewards
By completing the parts of the quest in NTE, you can earn:
- Mysterious Buttons;
- Warren Gold Coins;
- equipment of varying rarities.
How do I defeat the Firehorn Tiger in Red Mist? It dies in 10 seconds due to a debuff.
Farm bosses; they drop an accessory that negates Red Mist damage. Or just choke them with damage if you have a decent build.
So, everyone, I've found the elephant needed for the 5th Gambit. To get it, you'll need to open the chest behind the Crimson Dragon Arena (at least on Challenge difficulty and after completing all the other side missions in this mode (probably) (based on the achievements).

We don't know for sure yet, but there are rumors that it has a chance to drop from dragon bosses.
I fell from the Crimson Dragon twice.
Drops from map bosses with a low chance on Challenge difficulty and higher. Don't waste it until Nightmare difficulty. But if you build a Fireblast build there, the game will crash.
Gambit IV can't be completed because there's no chest at the end of the location. The first time I just followed the storyline, but the second time I took the Gambit IV quest and there's no chest, so I can't complete it.
Open your inventory and check if you have a "Rock" piece. Due to a translation error, this is what we call the Rook.

This is a special challenge, "Red Mist Invasion," a glass ball on a stone bridge between the lake and the volcano. All characters must be level 40 to enter.
You need to be level 40, but I went there and there was nothing there, only this crimson fog that kills, but I even knocked out a ring so that the fog wouldn't kill this...it's just empty there
The developers responded that this was a bug, as the figurine should be awarded as a reward for defeating monsters in the challenge. They asked players to wait for hotfixes and monitor in-game notifications.

We're not sure what to do in this case yet, but try checking the inventory of the curly-haired vendors in all open locations. They might have the figurine now.
After you kill the dragon at Crimson Peak, there's a bridge by the arena with a chest inside. It contains a piece for Gambit 5, but I can't find one for Gambit 6.
I also can't find the gold part on the sixth one, it's not clear where it is

Also, check if you have the "Stone" figurine in your inventory. That's the boat.
