When Kratos meets Brock, the dwarf shows the God of War a convenient movement with the help of the power of magic - Mystic Gate, thanks to which you can quickly travel between the regions of Midgard.
The second such Gates of Kratos with Atreus will be opened after a short descent from the top of the Mountain, but we are talking about returning home, in Wild forest, it won't come in. The guide details how to return to a location from the prologue in God of War.
Fast travel in God of War
Fast travel around the world in God of War is implemented using a separate world, into which Kratos and his son enter in one location and from which they exit to another location. After passing through the Mystic Gates, the characters will find themselves in a mysterious world, and after a short interval, a door will appear in the same world, allowing them to reach their destination.
As soon as Kratos passes by the Mystic Gates, they are automatically activated and appear on the map. With Wildwood, everything is more complicated, because the region is located far away, and it will not work to activate the Mystic Gate during the prologue.
How to return to Wildwood
As the story progresses, after climbing Mountain and before traveling to Helheim, Kratos and Atreus will go to Wild forest "for the past". This is the second chance to explore the location and pick up everything you need, as well as activate the Mystic Gate.
