'To Turn Each Sin Against the Sinner' in Genshin Impact: How to find and cleanse the Sealing Pillars

The quest "Sin Will Turn Against the Sinner" tells the story of the warrior Janusz in Genshin ImpactHe informs you that the ancient seal created by the Torch Founder and the Voice of the Moon Hymn has weakened. A monster, restrained for centuries, has broken free and must now be returned to its prison. Volunteer to help the Lightbringer fulfill his order to scout for resources and defeat the Serpent of All Evil.

How to start the quest

To start the mission, fulfill the following conditions:

• reach at least 28th adventure rank;
• visit the northern outskirts of Nod-Krai.

Afterwards, venture into the depths of Dreadshade Mire. In this area, you'll come across one of three stone obelisks: in the distant past, they were enchanted with a powerful spell to hold back the flow of corruption, but that power has now weakened.

Clearing any such area of Abyssal influence will automatically trigger the side mission.

How to complete the 'To Turn Each Sin Against the Sinner' quest in Genshin Impact

There are a total of three obelisks on the map. It doesn't matter which one you start clearing. To simplify the process, we've listed the pillars from easiest to hardest.

Explore the Stone Sealing Pillar

The first trial is located northeast of the Moon Goddess Statue. As you approach, an Evil Eye of Blightseep will immediately appear in the area and start to actively attack the character.

Take advantage of the terrain to defeat your enemy by aiming your T-skill at the spirebloom. While holding the skill (by default "LMB"), you will be able to create a shield in front of you, with its help you can reflect enemy projectiles.

1. Create a "wall" and wait for the enemy to attack.
2. When the barrier flashes, release the button, which will result in a counterattack.

If you can't repel more than one charge, check the direction of the kuuvahki blades and make sure that it is in the horizontal position. You can change the position by pressing the "E" key.

After defeating the Eye, dodge the disc-like attacks. The obelisk will then be cleansed, and you'll receive an exquisite chest.

Explore the second sealing pillar

Head to the next pillar, located on the east side. You'll encounter a hostile Fatui squad along the way. Defeat them and take one of the Lunoculi of the region.

For the second trial, you need to release a clean flow of kuuvahki that takes the form of a prism, destroying the fault lines. This can be done in two ways - with projectiles from the shield and by dispelling a mysterious slothsheep.

Grab the wondrous mandragora wandering near the spirebloom and imbue it with lunar energy. To do this, throw the fruit in the plant's direction.

Take the new power and create a barrier by pressing "E", change the direction of the blades from vertical to horizontal and break the lines of the Abyss.

An alternative method with a slothsheep

Pick up a Miraculous Mandragora near the Spirebloom and run up to the infected creature. Take aim and throw the fruit at it to cleanse it of its corruption.

Consume the seed core located between the sheep's horns. The animal will now follow the character.

Approach the fault lines and aim by holding down the left mouse button. Release the button to trigger the mysterious companion to accelerate and destroy the obstacle.

Approaching the prism, you'll immediately activate it (the mechanics are similar to those of fairies in other regions). Follow it to reach the second obelisk, where the Abyssal Corruption will be waiting.

Destroy several waves of enemies and take an exquisite chest.

Explore the third stone sealing pillar

The third pillar is located to the right of the main road connecting Piramida and Dreadshade Mire. When approaching the altar, Paimon will react to ratnik "???". Bring Janusz to his senses and learn the full history of the pillars you're searching for.

Head towards the teleporter, next to which there is the required prism and the locked exquisite chest.

Destroy the death field with a barrier projectile and collect the reward.

Afterwards, activate a pure flow of energy that will rush toward the ancient column. The passage will be blocked by fault lines: destroy them with the Spirebloom skill.

Once you get to the area with the altar, fight the monsters of the Wild Hunt The first wave consists of regular Exiles, and in the second wave, a Hunter will emerge from the rift.

Continue solving the puzzle by using the spirebloom again. For ease of doing so, remember to adjust your aim to vertical before shooting.

For successfully completed challenge, get another exquisite chest.

Defeat the Serpent of All Evils

By clearing all the ancient obelisks, you'll get acces to the Serpent of All Evils. The boss arena is located north of the third pillar. The battle itself will take place in two stages.

We recommend you using characters of the Lunar reactions to deal with enemy waves more effectively.

The first phase

In the first phase, kill all the Wild Hunt creatures to reduce the primary target's health. Each monster is linked to the Serpent: their death will unleash a bolt of pure energy at the boss, dealing damage.

Once the enemy's HP drops to 40-45%, it'll fall to the ground. Finish it off and proceed to the next phase.

The second phase

At the start, avoid the disc-like attacks; the third wave will leave behind lines of Abyss. Afterward, the arena will also begin to fill with Abyssal monsters.

Wait until a Spirebloom appears in the center of the field as a result of the contact of three prisms:

• Use the skill and break the lines one by one.
• At the same time, use this same skill to destroy ordinary monsters to kill the Serpent of All Evils.

At this stage, some playersmight encounter a bug with the spirebloom being inactive or unavailable. Log out of the game using the Paimon menu and log back in. This should resolve the issue.

Once the corrupted areas are cleared, speak with the Lightkeeper and collect valuable resources from two precious chests and one luxurious chest.

Achievement

Help Janusz defeat the monsters in Dreadshade Mire by solving all the altar puzzles. For this, you'll receive the "To Turn Each Sin Against the Sinner" trophy and be able to pick up 5 Primogems from the "Wonders of the World" section.
