Himmelsdorf: positions for LT, ST, TT, PT | World of Tanks map

Himmelsdorf is one of the oldest maps in the game. In several updates, it has changed slightly, but the tactics of both teams have remained the same. It is worth noting that this map consists of city buildings, a railway and a castle on a hill. The tactics for "standard" battles will be presented below.

Content

Bottom base

Departure from this base takes place in 4 directions, and it is necessary to choose the direction taking into account the class of equipment and its performance characteristics.

Positions for LT

Passage LT occurs in 3 directions.

  1. This is the most important direction for light tanks. LTs and tank destroyers, in rare cases, medium and heavy tanks go to this part of the map. The importance of this route lies in not letting the enemy vehicles flank to the base. On Himmelsdorf, this is the longest straight for cross. There is no way to shine passively here, so LT needs to be played carefully. Drive out from behind the building, find enemy anti-tank installations and quickly hide. The difficulty of this route will depend on both the enemy team and the allies. If there are many allies, and few enemy tanks, then you can take risks and try to break through the flank. At the top of the map on the left side there is a large building, if you get to it, you can tactically win the opponent. Here, the LT only needs to shine, since skirmishes can lead to destruction. Also, artillery is often located on the railway, which, accordingly, can be found for destruction by allied tank destroyers.
  2. This junction is similar to the 1st, only the tank starts the route through the main street. The Himmelsdorf map is not large, so you can literally immediately light up the enemy. It is unlikely that allies will be able to deal damage to illuminated vehicles, since there is a fountain in the center of the map that blocks direct hits from allies. However, by illuminating the enemy’s vehicles, you can show the allies in which direction the opponent’s tanks are moving, which will positively affect the team’s further actions. After the gap in the center, the tank needs to turn left, and there already act at its discretion. You can stay on the corner of the building and shine through the railway and the loophole located near the station. You can also drive to the railroad tracks and help allied LTs. If they are not there, then you should drive to some building and carefully shine with the allied tank destroyers. If the allies did not move in this direction at all, you need to constantly monitor the left flank, since the enemy will eventually realize that there is no one on the flank, and will drive to the outskirts of the base.
  3. This direction is more suitable for medium tanks, however, with the help of its dynamics, a light tank can quickly drive up a mountain and light up an enemy driving up it. Also, from a height, you can fire at the railway. However, when a large number of vehicles are approaching a hill, it is better to leave from there, for example, on a railway track.

Positions for ST

The junction ST takes place in 5 directions.

  1. This route is similar to the route of light tanks, only the main goal of medium tanks is to break through the flank. There are many buildings on the railway, behind which you can hide and drive carefully to enemy positions. If the CTs get to the station, then the team will be much easier to operate. If the enemy sees a breakthrough in the defense, he will immediately begin to retreat to the base, and this will liberate the allied tank destroyers and they will be able to take up positions for shooting at the "banana" and the mountain.
  2. The position is suitable for those tanks that have armored turrets. In this place there is an embankment, behind which you can hide the body. From this place, a direct path to enemy positions is shot through.
  3. The position is around the corner of the building. From here it is possible to block the passage of enemy tanks by rail and cover the allies in case of a breakthrough along the flank.
  4. This position is the most dangerous, as it is necessary to drive through an open area in the center of the map. Having reached there, the tank will be able to constantly shine not only on the heavy tanks of the opponent, standing on the "banana", but also on all the equipment, standing along the perimeter of the loopholes.
  5. More often, medium tanks are sent to the mountain. This flank is the most important for the team, because during a breakthrough, enemy vehicles will drive into the stern of heavy tanks and anti-tank installations, and the battle will be lost accordingly. On the mountain, you can use both guns with good vertical aiming angles and strong towers, conducting firefights using embankments. Also here you can fire at the enemy, which is located on the railroad or in the center of the map.

Positions for TT

For heavy tanks, there are only 3 sidings.

  1. The most common position of heavy tanks, the so-called "banana". There are active skirmishes of armored vehicles. In this place, armored towers and sides can be used. Breaking through this area will also greatly affect the fight.
  2. More dynamic heavy tanks are more likely to drive up the mountain, since there is a large slope, respectively, slow vehicles will lose a lot of time just to climb the mountain.
  3. This is a rare position for a TT. Here you can play board against enemy tanks hiding in the loophole along the road. Also, the passage of the opponent from the side of the railway tracks is blocked here.

Along the perimeter, between the 1st and 3rd points there are loopholes. They can also be used. But there are practically no shots from them, so it is not often possible to see allied vehicles in these places.

Positions for tank destroyers

There are 3 sidings for tank destroyers.

  1. More often they occupy anti-tank positions with good camouflage. Here you can fire on the entire flank, but only if the allied LT shines on the enemy. If suddenly the tank was illuminated, then it can be destroyed in a matter of seconds, while artillery will help the enemy.
  2. There is an embankment at this position. Almost any anti-tank installation can become here. If the cutting is strong, then this will be the safest position on the map, but enemy artillery can get here.
  3. The "banana" is more often driven by heavily armored tank destroyers, which can push through enemy positions, thanks to their strong wheelhouse or turret. However, you should not go ahead of everyone, because you can run into flanking fire. A tank without a turret will not be very comfortable, since knocking down a caterpillar will literally render it harmless.

Top base

The routes of the upper base are similar to the lower base, but have some differences.

Positions for light tanks

There are 3 routes.

  1. With the help of its dynamics, the LT quickly climbs the mountain and illuminates the enemy creating the same actions. From the mountain, you can shoot through the center of the map and the railway.
  2. This route is laid through the center of the map. At the beginning of the battle, a light tank can conduct useful reconnaissance and indicate to the allies where the enemy tanks are driving.
  3. At the top of the map is a train station that can be used as cover when retreating.

Positions for medium tanks

ST can take positions in 4 places.

  1. Standard route for ST. More often, medium tanks head up the mountain and engage in active skirmishes with their classmates. From this base it is impossible to play on the rise from the tower, so positions should only be taken at the entrance to the castle and shoot through the embankments.
  2. A risky but rewarding route. By taking this position, you can deliver a lot of trouble to your opponent. Here you can monitor heavy equipment on the "banana" and loopholes around the perimeter.
  3. Similar to route 2. Here you can constantly shine on equipment that is around the corner, while shooting through the mountain. But in this position, the tank is also in direct shooting from the mountain.
  4. Here you can help light tanks and tank destroyers block the approaches to the base. After driving a little further, you can deal damage to tanks on the "banana" and on the mountain.

Positions for heavy tanks

From the top base, heavy tanks have more routes.

  1. Dynamic heavy tanks usually drive up the mountain. Driving to a hill from the top base does not allow you to play a tower. Therefore, you need to drive to the castle as soon as possible. On the mountain, a heavy tank can use both the turret and the sides.
  2. The standard and most frequent departure for TT. Traditionally, heavy equipment skirmishes take place here. Positions from the upper base are more comfortable, since you can tank behind the embankment with an armored turret, thereby blocking the approach of enemy vehicles.
  3. Standing on the corner, you can tank with the sides and prevent the enemy tanks from getting close. It is very important that there is an allied tank in this place, since it will cause inconvenience to the enemy in breaking through the flank.
  4. The rarest route for TT. Here you can stand in the loophole and tank with a tower, but it is better to leave this place for those for whom it is intended, namely anti-tank installations. A heavy tank on this flank can play an important role, as it will have the ability to hold off flank breakthroughs with its armor and HP.

Positions for tank destroyers

There are 4 sidings for tank destroyers.

  1. On the "banana" can go anti-tank installations with good armor. Here they will be useful as firepower, as they have powerful penetrating guns. It is better to always stand behind heavy tanks, because the lack of a turret will not allow you to fight comfortably.
  2. Along the perimeter of the center there are loopholes, occupying which, you can shoot through the enemy passages from the bottom side. Also from this line you can fire at the tanks located on the mountain.
  3. One of the most comfortable positions for tank destroyers. In the loophole, you can hide a fragile hull and use the cutting reservation. It will also be comfortable to maneuver unarmored vehicles here, the main thing is to move quickly and react.
  4. The 4th position is inside the destroyed train station. Behind the embankments, you can hide the tank and drive out to shoot. However, having taken this position, it will be almost impossible to leave when enemy vehicles break through, since you will have to retreat through the entire station. At the same time, it will no longer be possible to escape further than the station, since the tank will be in direct shooting.

Conclusion

The Himmelsdorf map is the most favorable for armored vehicles with low dynamics. Here you can use all the advantages of booking. Since this is a purely urban map, it is inconvenient for LT and artillery. There will be no long “staying” here, since there are no bushes and long distances where a tank destroyer or LT can hide. All skirmishes are dynamic and the battles are fast.
