Why did most of the World of Tanks audience vote for him in the poll?
Hello tankers! Wotpack is with you and today we are consecrating the details of the voting among the players for the title of the worst heavy tank. We first introduced our TOP 3 worst TTs, and under the article, they invited readers to share and vote for the tank that, in their opinion, is the most unplayable in the current random.
By a wide margin, the first place in the voting was taken by the Soviet KB-4.
Before proceeding to the analysis of why the players do not like him so much, let's start with positive aspectshighlighting its positive features:
- the top gun has good stabilization, high armor penetration, acceptable accuracy and relatively fast reloading;
- a large margin of safety;
- circular booking;
- given its mass, it can ram other strands.
Let's start with firepower. Although the gun pierces well, the dispersion circle in motion is small, but:
- very slow turret traverse speed, so any ST, LT and even some TTs can spin it;
- small one-time damage, so it is problematic to play positionally from alpha;
- too long time information, as for such an alpha.
A lot of points of durability and a large mass for a ram, of course, is not bad, but is it relevant? The dynamics of the tank is disgusting:
- the maximum speed is 30 km / h, and even that is recruited from the hill;
- maneuverability is almost non-existent, the chassis turning speed is even worse than that of the Japanese O-HO, whose mass is 15 tons more.
He has very poor mobility., so he gets to the place of the main hostilities among the last. In the event of a failure on the flank, there is little chance of falling back under the cover of the allies, and it’s not at all worth talking about having time to return to the defense. In addition, slow technology often becomes a priority target for arta.
Does the KV-4 tank, can it keep the direction or take on the role of a breakthrough tank? Here is precisely the reason why he got popular antipathy. It would seem that good circular armor has several significant vulnerabilities:
- NLD of huge dimensions with a nominal armor of 160 mm, reduction of about 200 mm;
- in the upper part of the VLD, the nominal armor of the selected area is 180 mm. There are a driver and a radio operator. It also easily penetrates the course machine gun.
So even some 6 levels will be able to pierce in the forehead and there is a possibility of incapacitating two crew members, although not the most vital, although without a mechanical driver, the KV-4 will become too sluggish.
- a huge machine-gun turret, which is easier to aim. Therefore, trying to play from the terrain, hiding the NLD and VLD is out of the question. In addition, every second shot can lead to shell shock of the commander, gunner or loader. All of them play important roles, so the loss of at least one will be noticeable;
- weak gun mantlet;
- fuel tank vulnerability. A fire can occur when a projectile hits under the turret or undercarriage;
- even despite the size of the turret, its visibility is minimal for a level 8.
As a result, we get a tank that can sometimes penetrate, sometimes tank, but at the same time, any experienced player can easily dismantle it. Visual power in terms of armor numbers is deceptive. The tank is not suitable for attack, at least somehow it can only prove itself in defense. Poor mobility and low field of view make it dependent on the team.
Let's add to this that the branch with the top IS-4 is now absolutely irrelevant, there is a much more interesting technique for pumping. Maybe you remember that in June 2019 the developers rolled out ST-II, then it was planned as a replacement IS-4. But everyone already knows that in the end they introduced a separate backlighting of double-barreled tanks, "four" remained out of work.
