In order to start the hidden quest Epilogue: Memories, you must:
- Complete all quests in the chain Agnihotra Sutra.
- Complete the hidden missions of the final stage: Memories of Aranagi, Old friend of Aranakin и Aragaru's entry.
After you have completed the previous quests with aranars, go to Motiyaima forest and talk to Khayyam - this time a marker will appear on the map.

I had completed two quests. I thought I had completed the Araguru recording quest, since the desert dwellers weren't appearing at the beginning of the cave. I went inside and killed everyone there. There was one desert dweller in the cave who didn't aggro on me. After killing him, the boss appeared and the quest resumed.

I agree with the previous comment: the old man didn't show up until I found the third clue collection point in the cave from the previous quest (Aragaru's entry) under the "aranar" sign on the wall (then I found the necessary thing in the second one and continued with the quest). All the hermits were cleared out.
