Actual tips and life hacks for the fastest passage through the mode.
Hello tankers! With you, Wotpack and we could not stay away from the discussion of one of the most interesting modes in World of Tanks. "Steel Hunter" this year continues "Expedition for tanks" And we still have 4 more seasons to play.
But not everything is so simple. The mode is easy for those who understand it and know how to play, while for others it will become a monotonous drain, because progress points are given only for getting into the TOP 5. Therefore, any battle in which you merge earlier will miss the cashier.
Realizing that not everyone will be able to learn (after all, many are too lazy to open general information about the mode or read similar guides), the developers have added 2 daily combat missions that will help move forward in progress:
Next, we will look at recommendations that will help even average players to get through the mode more quickly and not stretch it out for a week.
Choice of technique
As statistics show, on the first day, most skill players have already completed the mode on playing mainly on 3 tanks:
- Harbinger Mk. IV (British);
- Raven (American);
- Varangian (Soviet).
Personally, I liked the first two tanks, as they are primarily geared towards dealing damage. This is facilitated by the skills of the commander and equipment.
UPD: French vehicles work well if you avoid open battles at the beginning of the battle, roll around the edge of the map and collect drops. After the upgrade, the German "Valkyrie" also became more comfortable to play, but still 1 vs 1 is lost by the DPM to the British and the American.
Tactics at the beginning of the battle
In the first minutes of the battle, upgrade the tank by selecting cargo. Do not rush to get involved in the battle in the first minutes.
I'll use my example: at the beginning of the battle, 2 opponents collided with each other and exchanged fire literally in the clinch (I highlighted both of them with the radar). I drove up when they had less than half of their HP and began to shoot one by one (they were so carried away by each other that they didn’t even notice me).
Radar
Don't be afraid to be discovered, use it all the time. This will help you not to forgive the loot and stay aware of the movement of your opponents.
Collect cargo
Collecting each drop gives experience to improve your technique + collect useful buns. Blue is the most useful, so if it fell near you, take a chance and try to pick it up first. If it worked out, then do not stand in one place, because opponents will soon drive up, and you will become a target for them.Learn all the drops to better navigate the battle and prioritize correctly.
How browsing and discovery works
Many players wonder why they were discovered, but they do not see anyone. The fact is that here the review works differently, and not like in regular battles. Look at the image, in "Steel Hunter" detection of technology occurs in a cone-shaped form (with drops also).
Therefore, from the stern or sides you will not see anyone until you turn the tower. This mechanic only works for distances over 50 meters. If the enemy vehicle is closer, it will automatically light up.
Skills
Do not save skills, it is better to use than to go to the Garage, but save. Don't forget to repair your equipment.
List of new skills:
Shells
Pay attention to the ammunition:
- cumulative shells have higher one-time damage, but lower armor penetration and flight speed. Best used only at close range.
- sub-caliber projectiles are inferior in damage, but they penetrate better and fly faster. We recommend traveling with them increase the chances of hitting the enemy from a distance.
Battle
In battle, you often have to face head-on, and sometimes butt in the clinch. In such situation Take control of your crosshair and target areas personally (the marker is highlighted in green). Don't abuse auto-aim. Often breaks through the joint between the tower and the hull or "cheeks" of the tower.
Do not be lazy study vulnerable areas of equipment in the Angara. If you conduct aimed fire at the modules, this will significantly increase your chances of winning the duel and save hit points. In this mode, it is much easier to blow up the ammo rack than in random mode.
On the screenshots you can see the location of the modules:
How to put together a group
In this mode, there is no possibility of auto-selection of players to form a group. And such modes are played in a completely different way in a platoon with friends, or at least with guys with voice communication. Under the previous topic on the Steel Hunter, we were asked a question about this, so we offer players to cooperate (someone lacks 1, and someone is looking for a group) in a special topic Vkontakte in our group. You can also leave a game nickname in the comments to the article (as you prefer).
Сonclusion
These tips are not a panacea, but you still need to get used to the regime in order to understand its essence. Someone plays simply by running along the edge of the zone, waiting for the opponents to kill each other, but with such tactics you won’t take TOP 1 (the car will simply be very weak in terms of performance characteristics).

IMHO, the top tanks for the mode are Raven and Harlequin.
the first one is well balanced, it has speed, penetration, damage, and can tank, and due to the combination of the last two abilities, it falls apart in pvp (preferably at the end, when there are few hunters left + a high chance to compensate from the corpse). Harbinger personally comes to me less, because. abilities hit hard on themselves, although the dpm under "Berserk" is higher than others
the second - when pumping to a light setup (with dynamics, maneuverability and with an anti-tank machine gun), it can easily carousel and break up slower opponents. plus abilities give good additional damage. plus there was a feature with the final zone and a ball tank (I don’t know if it was fixed or not). though it is better to avoid encounters with other tanks in the first minutes
I ran this stage in 2 days.
The mode is very easy, I even tried to play aggressively (do not take drops, trophies do not count) and won on the easy on the harlec, it’s a pity of course that the landmine current is on it and not on the Valkyr like last year) then everyone could be taken out from a shot at 1000 )
Even without getting into the top 5, you can easily take level 15 in a week. You just need to break through the equipment and send at least one to the hangar once a day. Thus, we get 1100 points per day, for a week 7700.
The amount for level 15 is about 5000 points.
After all, the priority is to take a premium-nine.
The tasks are limited, it won’t work out like that to take level 15
For combat missions per day, you could get 1100 points. This is enough to take level 15 without even getting into the TOP 5. It just takes much longer and not everyone has the opportunity to play every day
This is for the stupid or who is playing this mode for the first time
Offer smart tips.
Some last year ignored the regime and only this year they begin to play. Many played several fights, failed and scored.
