Bloody Coronation is a story quest in Chapter 8. Crimson Desert, which allows you to peer into the past and witness the seizure of power in Demeniss. Searching for traces of Merdin, infiltrate the castle and read the memories of Duke Caliburn's ascension to the throne. It turns out that Cliff has already encountered the usurper in the Abyss, and his power surpasses all those the hero has encountered before.
This guide will explain how to enter a well-defended fortress and view memories, as well as what to do if a glitch occurs with Vision during the game.
How to start quest
The mission begins after suppressing the rebellion in Thornbriar Keep and defeating the Cursed Knight in the "Into Demeniss" quest chain.
Walkthrough of the "Bloody Coronation" quest in Crimson Desert
Travel to the kingdom's capital and use Vision to discover Merdin's location. Along the way, you'll engage in a fight with Duke Caliburn, who leaves no chance of victory.
Infiltrate Demeniss's castle
Immediately after liberating Thornbriar Keep, head to the capital and infiltrate the castle. During the quest, Demenisse is a hostile state, so guards will attack Cliff.
Reach your destination along the fortress walls, descend from them to the roof of the courtyard, and from there climb into a second-floor window—best of all, into the third from the end of the building in the northeast.
This will take you to Demeniss's Depository. Leave the room and turn left from the stairs. Behind the wooden door lies the desired room, more reminiscent of a reception hall.
Read the memoir about the bloody coronation
Stand in front of the table, turn on the flashlight, and use the beam to search for Merdin's blue, ghostly figure. Once the training is complete, the hero will automatically equip the Visione and enter shard viewing mode.
Wait until Merdin finishes talking to Lucien Bastier and leaves. Without removing Visione, follow the remaining men towards the exit and go to the audience hall on the first floor.
Don't remove your helmet under any circumstances until the end of the quest. If you exit Preview mode, all the ghostly figures will disappear, and you'll have to start the memory over again.
Eavesdrop on the nobles' conversation in the audience hall.
In a room filled with blue silhouettes, find three prominent figures and eavesdrop on their conversations:
- The first communicating group is located in the center of the room.
- The second nobleman stands closer to the throne.
- The third is in the southwest corner of the hall, to the right of the throne.
Fight Gabriel Caliburn
After listening to the dialogue, watch the bloody scene of the takeover. Once everyone present is dead, the Duke will notice Cliff and reveal him in a flashback.
Try to resist the usurper and discover just how powerful he is. The Duke, who wields Abyssal magic, moves quickly, teleports, and has a huge amount of health.
The battle will end in defeat in any case, so wasting food and consumables in it is pointless.
What to do if a bug occurs in a quest
When viewing a memory fragment, the game may crash, and there are two types of bugs that can be fixed in different ways:
| Problem | Solution |
| After activating Visione, the flashback scene does not start, only the color filter changes. | Checking files or completely reinstalling the game helps. |
| The helmet is automatically removed when leaving the office. | Return to the table with Merdin's silhouette and select Visione from the radial menu. This will open an interface where you can play the "Bloody Coronation" Memory Shard. |
After completing the mission, Cliff will be unavailable for some time: the main character will be Damiana, who will have to infiltrate the Court of Demeniss.
