Bandit Camp in Gothic 1 Remake – Where to find Quentin, Brannock, and Arlin

How to meet the leader of the fugitives.

Bandit Camp - Mission in Gothic 1 remake, which can be obtained from Torus or Lee after joining their service. Both factions are concerned about a bandit group settling nearby and therefore ask the newcomer to speak with their leader, Quentin. The bandit lair in the gorge is heavily guarded, and gaining access will require a decision: break through by force or gain their trust.

If you find the hidden camp in the mountains before accepting the quest and kill Quentin, you will not be able to complete the quest and it will remain in your journal as uncompleted.

Where is the Bandit Camp?

The entrance to the Bandit Camp is located in the ravine between the Old Mine and the Exchange Zone. The easiest way to get there is from the northern gate of the Old Camp:

  • From the bridge, run strictly north until you encounter a flock of Glorchs.
  • Deal with the predators and climb up the path above their cave.
  • At the Troll's Gulch ruins, turn right into a small cave.

After passing through a tunnel with no forks, you'll meet Brannock. He guards the entrance to the settlement and won't let strangers in.

Walkthrough for the "Bandit Camp" quest in Gothic 1 Remake

Once you reach Quentin's gang, you can break through by force and take the guards' belongings, or fulfill a request from one of the bandits for separate rewards.

Before completing the task, buy from merchant Scroll of Charms in case the gang leader turns out to be hostile.

Kill Brannock or negotiate

The guard at the entrance won't let you through and will immediately ask where you're going. This dialogue offers two options: negotiate and complete the side quest "The Truth Under Lock and Key," or kill Brannock outright.

If you prefer peaceful path, select the following replicas:

  1. "Who's asking?"
  2. "I really want to walk through that door."
  3. "I can handle anything."
  4. "Okay, I'll find your friend."

So, agree to the mission, which requires you to infiltrate the prison beneath the Old Camp castle and rescue one of the gang members from there.

If you play as a Mercenary and do not have access to the castle courtyard, getting into the prison will be very difficult - you will have to fight all the guards of the Old Camp or use scrolls of transformationIn this case, it's easier to skip the mission to rescue Arlin and defeat just the three bandits at the entrance to the Bandit Camp.

How to Free Arlin

After accepting the quest "The Truth Under Lock and Key," head to the castle courtyard and enter the basement from the right side of the main building. After descending the ladder, open the door with a master keyIf your hacking skill isn't up to par, this combination will do:

  • No. 2 - 2 to the right;
  • No. 3 - 3 to the left;
  • No. 6 - 4 to the left;
  • No. 4 - 4 to the left;
  • No. 3 - 4 to the right;
  • No. 5 - 5 to the right;
  • No. 4 - 6 to the left;
  • No. 5 - 6 to the right;
  • No. 1 - 3 to the right.

In the wine cellar, immediately turn left and go through the door, behind which you'll find a section with metal bars. The first one is unlocked, but the second one will require some hacking:

  • No. 3 - 1 to the right;
  • No. 4 - 1 to the right;
  • No. 2 - 2 to the right;
  • No. 5 - 4 to the right;
  • No. 1 - 4 to the left;
  • No. 5 - 6 to the right;
  • No. 4 - 4 to the right;
  • No. 1 - 2 to the left;
  • No. 2 - 4 to the right;
  • No. 5 - 6 to the right;
  • No. 1 - 6 to the left;
  • No. 3 - 3 to the right;
  • No. 5 - 3 to the right.

Beyond the bars, select the door on the left—it opens with a torch. Proceed further and you'll find yourself in the prison block. Immediately knock out the guard and loot the cell key from his body.

Arlene is sitting to the right of the door opened by the torch. Approach the cage and speak to him. In the dialogue, he'll immediately admit to spilling the beans about Quentin, after which you'll be given a choice:

  1. "You're lucky your friend sent me. I can be a bit hard of hearing..." — ask for an additional reward for their silence and let them out.
  2. "You will stay here" - leave the bandit in the dungeon.
  3. "I will kill you" - after this, enter the cell and fulfill your promise.
  4. "Okay. I'll get you out of here" - just hand over the key and let him out.

Kill Arlene or leave him in jail do not recommendChoose the first or fourth answer and release him—after that, he will become a supplier of free master keys.

For any answer for completing the task objective, you will be immediately credited 250 experience pointsWhen you return to Brannock and report what happened, he will let you into the settlement, and completing the quest will bring you more 500 experience.

Where to find Arlin after the rescue

Climb the stairs into the hidden ravine and in the first area, find a passage through the cave on the right under the overhang.

After a long walk, you'll find yourself at a shooting range. Walk forward a bit and inspect the area around the fire—Arlene most often rests here or by the barracks above, accessible via a wooden ladder.

Talk to him and remind him of the deal—you'll get five lockpicks. You can come back later and ask him for more thieves' tools.

Where to find Quentin

Quentin is most often found sitting by the fire on the lookout overlooking Troll Gorge. To reach him from Arlin, run through the rocky passage behind the barracks. After the waterfalls, pass through the wooden hut to find his resting place.

If he's not there, check the cave across from the fire where Arlene usually rests—it's guarded by two bandits. The gang leader might be counting supplies here.

Talk to him and you will find out that he is not trying to lure anyone to his side and just wants to be left alone.

If you kill the leader before the conversation, you will no longer be able to hand over the quest to Lee or Torus.

What to say to Lee or Torus

Return to the guard or mercenary commander and report your conversation with Quentin. You can choose any response in the dialogue, including lying about all the bandits in the camp being dead. Either way, the quest will be completed, and there will be no difference in your reward.

What to do if Quentin refuses to talk

Quentin may become hostile due to a fight with Brannock or an encounter with bandits outside of the quest. This can be resolved by scroll of "Enchantment". It's sold. Idol Kadar in the Swamp Camp and is given out by the Idol of Kagan in the New Camp as a reward for the mission "Swamp Trial".

Rewards

For visiting the Bandit Camp in the Gothic remake and talking to the gang leader, you'll receive:

  • experience ×1;
  • ore pieces ×100.

In addition, completing the additional quest “The Truth Under Lock and Key” will bring a total of 750 experience and a regular source free master keys.
