Minsk to Baldur's Gate 3 - a companion known to players from previous parts of the game saga about the Forgotten Realms. This character is the most difficult to recruit into the team: recruitment is possible only in the third act of the story, and only if certain conditions are met.
The hero is an excellent tracker, has high levels of wisdom and dexterity. In the guide we will tell you where to find, how to save and recruit Minsk in Baldur's Gate 3.
How to start the High Harpist and Help the Underduke quests in Baldur's Gate
To find Minsk in Baldur's Gate 3, you will first need to recruit Jaheira at the end of the second act of the main plot, after the battle in Moon Towers, and continue her personal story in the third act. Without Jaheira in the squad, it will not be possible to recruit Minsk.
To begin the High Harpist quest, go to the Dancing Axe Shop and speak with Entharl Danthelon, having Jaheira in the team. Dealer will give out the key and invite Jaheira to meet with the city harpists.
The “High Harpist” quest for recruiting Minsk is indirectly related to the conflict between the Zhentarim and the harpers, which is the subject of the “Help the Sub-Duke” quest in Baldur's Gate 3. Completing the latter is not necessary to save Minsk.
High Harpist in Baldur's Gate 3: Walkthrough
Next, we will analyze in detail the passage of Jaheira’s quest, in the finale of which you can be saved and invited to the Minsk camp.
Find Minsk
After receiving the key from the Dancing Axe, go through the back door into the basement under the store, fight the cultists in battle, win and talk to the harper Heraldus. He will direct the characters to the main hideout.
Talk to Ninefingers
Nine-fingered in Baldur's Gate 3 lives in the sewers, in the secret hideout of the harpers. Travel to the Lower City with Jaheira as a team. The easiest way to get to the secret location is through the sewers:
- Enter the sewer through the hatch at the Vasilkov Gate in the Lower Town.
- Break down the dilapidated wall with a blunt weapon.
- Follow the linear path and hack the "No Entry No Exit" door [KS - 20], leading directly to the shelter.
Ask Kina Nine-Fingered about Minsk in her office. It turns out that the lost hero chose the name Stone Lord, contacted the Absolute and became a crime boss, terrifying the harpers and citizens of the Lower City. Nine-fingered knows where in the city of Minsk he will strike next, but does not want travelers to join the hunt for him. You'll have to look for information about the character's whereabouts yourself.
Search the guild tavern
In the guild tavern, two visitors are drinking at a table - Thistlebog and Forstlethwaite, they are discussing the upcoming operation to capture Minsk. Find out from them where the harpers are going to intercept Jaheira's acquaintance by choosing the following lines:
- "Wait a minute. I'm interested to hear about the stone lord. Let him finish."
- Belief [KS - 18]: “I just want to hear this nice guy’s story about the Stone Lord.” There are also other check parameters to choose from.
Here Fistlebog will tell you that the harpers are going to intercept the Stone Lord in the Accounting Chamber. Characters now know where to find Minsk in BG3. This is not the only way to find out details about the interception plan: you can talk to Treasurer Uktar and, having successfully completed the persuasion check [KS - 18], find out identical information.
Find Minsk in the Accounts Chamber
The Chamber of Accounts in Baldur's Gate 3 is located in the south of the Lower City. This is a large building on a rocky coastal island that is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Head inside and approach the head clerk, Mead, who is the receptionist at the front desk. Jaheira will be able to find out from an employee of the society of financiers that the Stone Lord is already in the vault. Choose a Persuasion, Deception, or Intimidation check [CS - 10] to receive from Mead temporary pass in storage.
Approach the guard guarding the tall door in the center of the reception area, present your temporary pass and enter the vault. Go down until you reach a round door and go inside.
Get into a highly secure vault
In the vault, the attention of the heroes will be attracted by another large door, in front of which there are nine stone slabs, with images of numbers from 1 to 9. Step on the slabs in the correct order to unblock the passage.
Where to find the code from the Chamber of Accounts vault
A book with the current code from a specially protected vault is located in the office of the chief banker. Pass the manual dexterity check [KS - 20] to get information.
Door code - 1356. Place the characters on the slabs in the correct order, and the door to a specially protected vault will open. Step inside to finally meet Minsk in person.
Talk to Minsk at the Chamber of Accounts
In a specially protected zone, the heroes will meet Minsk. You can give Jaheira the opportunity to convince the Stone Lord that he has no evil intentions by choosing the “Allow Jaheira to open up” line. There will be no sense in this at this point in history: you will have to fight with the Absolute sectarians.
After the battle, talk to Rakata Brightbeard and agree to cooperate in the capture of Minsk, who managed to steal the deposits of most of the citizens of Baldur's Gate.
Where to find Minsk in the sewer
Next, we will analyze in detail where to find Minsk in the sewers of the Lower City, and how to solve the accompanying riddle with valves in the Abandoned Tank.
Search the sewers for the Stone Lord
Exit the Accounting Chamber and follow the Stone Lord into the sewers. The heroes need to open the gateway in the western part of the sewer to get to the area where Minsk fled.
Solve the valve puzzle in the Abandoned Tank
Set optimal levels water and heat, and open the gateway by sequentially executing the following commands:
- Go to the water supply valve and turn it. Wait for 2 cycles until the arrow of the mechanism indicating the water level enters the yellow, ideal zone. After this, immediately turn the valve back.
- Go to the heat supply valve and turn it. You will also have to wait here for 2 cycles until the arrow of the mechanism indicating the heat level reaches the yellow zone.
- If you did not have time to turn off the valve at the right time, then turn off the emergency shutdown and repeat the procedure.
Once the heat level reaches the ideal level, the sluice gates will open automatically.
How to rescue Minsk and recruit in Baldur's Gate 3
As soon as you pass the sewer pipe, a cutscene will start in which you will not be able to select lines. The fight with the Stone Lord and his companions is virtually impossible to avoid. Next, we'll figure out how to recruit Minsk in Baldur's Gate 3, winning, but without killing him in the inevitable battle.
How not to kill Minsk
To avoid killing Minsk, follow two rules:
- Kill the Stone Lord's retinue, destroy most of his health and, at the end of the battle, change the mode of your attacks to non-lethal (switches to the passive menu). Finish him off with non-lethal melee attacks.
- Don't throw away your magic so that Minsk doesn't accidentally burn down or die from shock discharges.
Having successfully killed Absolute's minions and killed Minsk, the hero will be faced with a choice: kill him completely or spare him. The Emperor does not want to leave the character alive, but Jaheira insists otherwise. Below is a sequence of remarks that will guarantee the salvation of Minsk:
- First tell the Emperor "Give him your protection."
- “His unpredictability has already saved the city once. We need him."
- "Doesn't matter. Help him".
Finally, Minsk will regain consciousness and can be invited to the camp, but only after he breaks through the sewer wall and finds his friend Boo. After this, Minsk and the mini-giant space hamster Boo will be ready to eradicate evil and become part of the Travelers team. This will be the end of the High Harpist quest.
What will happen if Minsk is killed
If Minsk dies in the heat of battle, Jaheira will leave the squad forever. Save before the fight to avoid a long replay.
What happens if Jaheira died in the second act?
Without Jaheira, Minsk will not be able to be convinced and the quest will not be completed. Her survival at the end of the second act is a necessary condition for recruiting Minsk and Boo into the squad.

It's been a while, but you can still get into the vault without knowing the password. Just throw a bottle of water or use Create Water on the tiles, then cast any lightning spell into the puddle. This will short-circuit the door and open it.
I accidentally found another route to Mins, simpler, shorter, and without puzzles. If you go up the stairs from the portal in Gray Bay Docks, there's a small park, I think. There's a door marked "Do Not Enter" on the map—that's the one you need to go through. Behind the door is a small storage room with a simple riddle: activate two pressure plates on the sides of the room to open a passage. Be careful—there's a trap right behind it. Disarm it to reveal a hatch. Descend through the hatch and you'll find Mins meeting a gnome merchant, and then there's a fight and everything as described in the guide. The game isn't new, but I can't seem to find this route anywhere, so I decided to add it in case it's useful to anyone.
Thanks for the information. I didn't know that route.
I didn't think to activate the non-lethal passive. Jaheira died in the moon towers. I didn't scam the save, that's the way it is.
Something went wrong. Jaheira died during the Lunar Towers. I followed Selune's path, everything was fine, and I didn't add her to my party before the fight. I was sad to lose her, but after three restarts of the fight (she didn't die in all of them, no matter how much I healed and defended), I gave up and moved on with the story. (I took her outfit and scimitars as a souvenir.) Finally, the encounter with Minsc in Act 3 surprised me. She showed up, taking Minsc with her. I don't know what happens next in the story, but I'll write about it once I get through it. (I wrote this in the post under the Lunar Towers, but I decided to leave it here.)
How did it end?
Because it wasn't her, but the Absolute sectarians who assumed her identity. How do you even read history when you're playing through it? She's still alive in my unit, and there was a sectarian there who assumed her identity and decided to mislead Minsk. Yes, a late comment, but still...
We're looking forward to seeing our partners in Gomel and Grodno 😀
