On the one hand, I understand the players who got all worked up over the rewards, as the reward reduction lasted for several patches, and it really fueled players' anger. And in recent patches, they started shoving skins instead of free weapons. But I don't understand some players' complaints about Loen. So, you believed the leakers and dumped the cool stuff into another banner, or you just didn't save up enough. So what? Next time, at least wait for official confirmation before dumping. Hoyo didn't personally promise you Loen as a standard character, and the leakers could have either fallen for Hoyo's byte or simply drawn the wrong conclusions. They could have decided, "Our Nod-End game ends in 6.7. 6.8 won't happen. The only new characters are Nicole, Sandrone, and Loen. The first two definitely won't be standard, so Loen remains. All Loen is standard." The sleevers didn't realize that Hoyo likely meant the standard character would be released this year, not in a patch (my personal opinion), so they jumped to the wrong conclusion. If the reduction in rewards meant gems, then they were given out roughly as usual. Rough pool calculations for 6.7 are already available—a total of 660 f2p spins; for all of Sumeru, for example, there were 668 (and there's more in the patch).
Regarding Loen, it's not the first time people have chosen to believe in what they want, not reality. In the first beta, he was doing 130k DPS, and he was even buffed. The character is played based on the strongest reaction in the game, but in the end, everyone really wanted to believe he'd be included in Standard, even though the assumptions pointed to the opposite, and they were upset that they'd sent a request into the ether and it didn't come true. Arguments like "his weak cons" are more likely due to a misunderstanding of the character's kit. He's more of a driver, so his 200 MS per squad + more Cryo isn't actually bad. I also agree about his status being changed at the last minute for the Legion event. A simple example is Dehya, a community favorite whose animations weren't really up to par with Standard at the time of release. So what? She quietly went to the Standard banner, although people were ready to play her just as hard as Nahida if she'd had the damage.
I also briefly mentioned the event weaponry in the comments, but I wrote it out so bluntly that I'll leave it as is—please don't take it personally. I can partially understand people's complaints about the event guns, but they seem to be focusing on the wrong thing. Of the truly useful event guns, two stand out right now: Plated Flower, which simply got lucky with the release of Sitlali (16 patches after the gun), and Lightweaver's Lute—another F2P for Lauma. The rest of the guns are either stillborn or already irrelevant and not worth the resources invested in them. Of course, there will always be people who will say they use these guns so much, they're all really useful, so here's a prefire list of the guns considered valuable: Eshu—only Skirk and Dahlia can fulfill the passive requirements without a minus squad slot; Festering Desire—Favonium/Ferryman is better; Spindle - a 3-star Harbinger is better for cannon wielders; Shigure - the same as Sting for cannon wielders; Dialogue of the Desert Dead - Favonium is better, but in any case, the Fontaine craft is the same, except for a slight difference in the base; But Ohanashi - Favonium / Catch is better. And I can describe this with all the event cannons.
Ultimately, I'd personally prefer a skin I'll at least use (the first skin is quite good and I actually use it) to yet another bow with a terrible passive that'll just sit in storage collecting dust. On the other hand, the skin they're giving away now is a complete hack. It's just a reuse, and not exactly a beautiful sword. It would be nice if they'd at least given me a swordfish as a skin, but this one is just meh.
In short, in my humble opinion, the demand should be this: if you want to give away fewer guns and more skins, fine—but when there's a gun, make sure it's useful, and make sure the skins are pretty or at least interesting. I'd even sign a petition for that position.
I'll comment on the guns. You understand that not everyone has the opportunity to obtain event weapons, especially now that the signature weapons are coming out with specialized features, and standard Legion weapons can simply not drop (I've only got one standard Legion gun in two years of playing). And Favonius, for example, wants consts, but where can a F2P newbie get them? So the event guns were a good stopgap, certainly better than a literally useless skin.
P.S. Is Ohanashi a yokai spear? It's literally a signal for iansan, and goes well with coffee.
I'm not even comparing it to Legion, but to crafting or what drops from the STD banner, which means from the event banner with characters too. It just so happens that Favonium is overkill, what can you do? It's also better on Iansan, because you need to collect much less recovery with it (I have about 170% recovery, and the orbs fly just right from the E-level to hit my ult). Favonium is also better on Coffee—her team is usually greedy for energy (and she herself), so the 6 energy from Favonium is not a bad thing.
Regarding const, they're mostly needed by Ceremon, Memes, and Kazik, but Favonius needs them much less. Secondly, a F2P newbie will only get a handful of event guns; maybe two, and most likely the same ones as the last event. If someone's been actively playing for a year or more, they're not a newbie. And I'm not against guns, quite the contrary, but I want them to at least be around, like the Yokai Spear, even if they're released less frequently.
I have 180 restores on Iansan without Fav, which is quite enough. However, I still think Fav wants constants, otherwise he'll rarely run out of energy, especially with Iansan, which doesn't hit the ground running.
I'm speaking from experience: I had two Favonius Spears around C3, but I won't argue too much; consts on guns like these are always good. On the other hand, my main point is that it's better to have good guns less often than bad ones often. Even if we were to stretch it, the useful guns were in 2.5 (the Oko is only decent for the Heron); 3.5 (the gun itself only became relevant in 5.3); 4.5 (about 5% better than the Fontaine craft); 5.4 (loses to the Favonius with equal consts), 6.0 (bis F2P for Lauma, but on other builds it's a more compromised gun), and that's it. In my opinion, it's better to get at least a slightly useful gun in, say, 7.0 and 7.5 than to get them every two patches, but bad ones. And in the current reality, essentially no one wins - a newbie will waste resources on an irrelevant gun, thinking that an event is better than crafting (and will understand this with experience), and an old-timer essentially gets a useful gun once in a major patch and, God willing, he will have a character for it.
