Frostnight Herra in Genshin Impact: How to Find and Defeat the Boss

How to defeat the boss that absorbs elements and gains resistance to them.

The descendant of the frosty night flies in the sky

In Genshin impact, the Frostnight Herra World Boss is an ancient beast that inhabits the lands of Nod-Krai. Since the time before the Frost Moon was shattered, such creatures were tamed by the Lord of the Sky, and as a result, the light of heaven has not corrupted them, and they guard the territories and inhabitants entrusted to them, as they have for centuries to this day.

Wielding the power of the Moon, the mysterious beast can switch between two forms and also increase its resistance to elemental damage when not attacked with certain reactions. This guide will offer the most suitable teams to simplify the boss fight and help you obtain valuable resources needed for leveling up your characters.

How to get to Frostnight Herra in Genshin Impact

Frostnight Herra is located in the territory of Nod-Krai, in the north of the Hiisi Island. Travel to the teleporter above the Light-Bathed Platform and enter the arena to the Moon Horse. The crescent moon that appears, from which the horse will emerge, can serve as a landmark.

Who to use in your team to fight the Frostnight Herra

The enemy has no initial resistance to certain elements, but after entering the Gloomveiled state all resistances increase by 120%. After exiting Gloomveiled, the beast absorbs the element it was hit with the most, gaining immunity to it and also attacks with that element.

The total damage of each type doesn't matter. For example, if you deal 100 Pyro damage once and 000 Electro damage ten times, the boss will gain immunity to Electro.

If you hit the boss during its special state with Lunar reactions or physical damage, Frostnight Herra will not receive immunity and will be easier to defeat.

In addition, the mob has a lot of area-of-effect attacks, which is why it is better to add supports to the team, for example, shielders or healers, if you are unable to dodge in time.

Choosing Characters

For convenience, all companions are sorted by team position. Lunar Reaction damage dealers, physical damage dealers, and revolver teams are best suited for combat, as they can split damage among different allies depending on the enemy's phase and resistances.

Main damage dealer

Heroes who can successfully attack the beast on the field. Try to pick characters from Nod-Krai, physical heroes, or multiple damage dealers at once. In some cases, a single strong main damage dealer can handle the situation, but it's still recommended to have strong sub-damage dealers to compensate for the damage lost in the latter part of the battle.

Sub dps

Heroes that deal secondary damage from the pocket and apply status effects for reactions:

Top Teams

Sample teams that will be most comfortable to participate in battle with:

Character 1Character 2Character 3Character 4Features
FlinsIneffaAinoYelanSucroseLunar-Charged team, which will allow the boss to get rid of Gloomveiled without increased resistances. Flins and Ineffa will deal the main damage while under Aino's status. Sucrose won't knock up or pull the boss, but she will increase Elemental Mastery. The team is still viable without the Maidbot.
NeferLaumaAinoYelanNahidaLunar-Bloom team Nefer and Lauma. Aino is a priority due to the more convenient status application, but Yelan with a Favonius weapon is also possible. Nahida will increase Elemental mastery.
NeuvilletteFurinaIneffaXilonenNevillette can play with Ineffa, summoning Lunar-Charged to weaken the enemy. Thanks to the latter and her ability to trigger reactions, Frostnight Herra won't gain increased resistances.
ArlecchinoAinoIneffaBennettBennettDue to the status mechanic, Arlecchino plays well in Lunar-Charged, managing to apply Hydro status and create a base for Overloaded. Aino in this group is crucial for the levels of Moonsign.

The group's concept is similar to the previous one, but the main position is occupied by an Electro damage dealer. An Anemo support is suitable instead of the Natlan Blacksmith.
NeuvilletteFurinaSkirkEscoffierThe Hydro-Cryo composition is convenient for playing with different elements in different phases. For example, in the first phase of the battle, you can use only Nevillette and Furina, and then switch to Skirk and Escoffier in the second.

Yaoyao
EmilieBurning team with Kinich and Mavuika, whereyou can swap the Archon for the Saurian Hunter if the boss gains high Dendro Resistance. Baizhu and Emilie support the team, attacking and defending.

Eula

Escoffier
The enemy, in addition to Nod-Krai's reactions, is weak to physical damage, allowing for the use of Eula, Freminet, or Razor in a Superconduct team. Mika or Rosaria will boost this damage type, and Escoffier, despite his gameplay peculiarities, can easily take the Cryo Applicator position.

Budget teams

Teams made of Free Heroes:

Lynette
A F2P team with Kaeya uses physical damage under Lisa's Superconduct. Barbara is needed for healing, and Lynette absorbs Electro and helps with triggering reactions. If needed, the magician's assistant can be replaced with Noelle for an additional shield.
RazorKaeyaAino
Lisa
NoelleAn alternative team focused on physical damage with Razor and Kaeya as sub-DD. Aino can be used in the third slot for damage or Lisa for additional Electro. Noelle will shield and heal.

How to defeat Frostnight Herra in Genshin Impact

To make the battle easier, it is necessary to stick to the tactics of selecting elements and influencing the boss in order to avoid increasing resistances and multiple area attacks.

Attack to bring the boss out of Gloomveiled

After a short time of battle, the creature will enter the Gloomveiled state, indicated by the bar at the top. To remove this effect, the boss must be hit with frequent attacks. A total of 50 hits must be performed, with one hit from Lunar Reactions counting as 6 hits.

If you ignore this mechanic, the boss will turn dark and gain resistance to all elements at once, instead of gaining immunity to just one element. At the end of his stance, it will perform an area-of-effect attack, removing most of the hero's health, leaving its bar empty. HP consumption in combat modes can exceed 10 points at a time.

Use Lunar Reactions or Physical Damage

After exiting the Gloomveiledstate, the enemy will gain increased resistance to the element that dealt the most damage. If this was caused by Lunar-Charged or -Bloom, or physical damage, there will be no increase in resistance.

In terms of the elemental absorption mechanics the boss is similar to the Ruin Drake.

Don't forget about the supports

Frostnight Herra uses a lot of area-of-effect attacks, which can make it difficult to hit it or remove the Gloomveiled State. To avoid this, we recommend bringing a strong shielder or healer to your team.

The Guardian's of the Holy Light Attacks and Abilities

To kill Frostnight Herra without much effort, familiarize yourself with its skills beforehand, as this will help you better dodge them.

Jump kick

Folds its wings and dives toward the hero, dealing a powerful area-of-effect damage upon landing. The jump zone can be identified by a red circle on the ground.

Gloomveiled State

Some time into the fight, it may enter a state where it changes color from white to black. A bar appears to the right of its HP, indicating how much time remains until it exits the state. During this state, it periodically attacks the area with straight, laser-like strikes.

Homing projectiles

Creates a moon symbol above its head and launches projectiles that continuously fly toward the active character. Move to avoid them.

Wing attacks

Swings its wings and delivers several wide slashes in a row in front of it and to its sides. Run away or behind it to avoid taking damage.

Achievements

At the moment of the 6.1 version, there is only one achievement for fighting this boss.

Stranded Constellation

Condition: Defeat Frostnight Herra before the Elemental Absorption occurs.

To complete this achievement, you'll need strong damage dealers or Lunar Reactions or physical damage dealers. In the former case, you have to defeat the enemy before it exits the Gloomveiled State (fills the meter completely). In the latter case, you can take your time defeating the boss, as it won't be able to absorb the element after exiting the Gloomveiled State.

Rewards

After the battle, a Ley Line Outcrop will appear in the arena. You can spend 40 Resin on it to receive the following rewards:

Why if Mizuki is needed, but she is nowhere to be found in the squads?

I have my own recipe, inspired by this guide: I take Scar, Lisa, Barbara, and Noelle. The last two are for healing and shielding. When it enters the state, you need to hit it as much as possible with Lisa, healing it as needed. When it becomes immune, hit it with Anemo; Scar's build deals incredible damage. You can also do the opposite: give it immunity to Anemo and then counter it with a reaction.
I find everywhere how to play from elemental reactions)))

I'm speechless. He appeared in the abyss, and I just don't know how to deal with him. My characters with lunar reactions are Flins and Ineffa. How can I make two normal squads out of them?

Through immune reactions. For example, maximize your Electro immune, and then hit with something that produces a reaction (Anemo or Pyro are better, since Hydro deals Electro damage). I described how it works above.

I don't understand how to kill this monster. I manage to remove its shield, but in the end it becomes immune to the elements of DD. Thanks, what should I kill it with, please?
