Out of sight - a quest to expel the impudent merchant Mordrag from the Old Camp in Gothic 1 remakeThe man regularly steals ore and food from the barons, causing problems for the guards. Torus is unable to deal with the man from the New Camp on his own, so he entrusts the task to the Nameless One.
The solution isn't so simple: Mordrag is robust and well-armed, unlike the hero. But you don't have to fight him—you can use the peaceful method, maintaining good relations with the merchant and still obtain the ring for access to the New Camp.
How to complete the "Out of Sight" quest in Gothic 1 Remake
After receiving the quest from Thorus, head to the castle's southern gate. Opposite, you'll immediately notice a red awning and Mordrag sitting on a bench. Strike up a conversation with the man and decide whether to intimidate him, gain his trust, or kill him.
Method 1 - Defeat Mordrag in a duel
The merchant will agree to a fair duel if you choose the following lines:
- "This camp is too small for the two of us."
- "You decided to steal from the ore barons, this is not forgiven."
After the second phrase, Mordrag will attack. Guards or other NPCs won't defend the Nameless One, so you'll have to fight fairly. Once the enemy's health drops to a minimum, you can loot him and take him. ringAfter this, the man will admit defeat and promise to leave the area.
If you start running away from Mordrag, he will change his mind about fighting. The challenge to a duel may disappear, and trade станет недоступна.
Method 2 - Ask to be escorted to the New Camp
The second method is peaceful and allows you to improve relations with all factions. Approach and select a dialogue option. "You're in trouble."The interlocutor will offer to abandon the barons' mission and join the New Camp.
Agree and follow him. Mordrag will single-handedly eliminate all enemies along the way and show you the way to the camp.
If you get separated from an NPC, they may disappear. Load your last save or return to the meeting point and ask for an escort again.
At the end of the path, you'll receive a ring from him, which you'll have to show to Torus. Two extortionists are always on duty at the exit from the New Camp—if you want to avoid a fight, take the detour around the bridge.
Method 3 - Kill Mordrag
You can kill Mordrag either during a duel or on the way to the New Camp. This is the easiest way to do it. with the help of Parvez, having first requested an escort to the Swamp Camp. Once the guru agrees, duel the merchant and run out the gate. Parvez will eliminate the enemy on his own, leaving you only to finish him off and loot all his items.
What happens if you kill Mordrag?
Mordrag is a merchant, so killing him is undesirable and it does not provide any noticeable benefits, except for a rather mediocre one weaponsThe best way to complete the quest is to travel to the New Camp together: this way, you'll receive rewards from Torus and won't lose a helpful NPC.
Rewards
In the Gothic remake, killing Mordrag grants 250 experience points and the respect of Thorus, an influential figure needed for the quest "A Phantom Chance." Furthermore, you can now spend the night in the merchant's abandoned hut and retrieve the items he left behind.
