A blue card is a mid-level security key in Rust, granting survivors access to advanced technology and elite loot. Radiation cities (RCs) hide valuable weapon crates, high-tier components, and, most importantly, the final piece of the logistical chain—a red access card—behind blue doors.
You can't just show up and pick up an item: in most cases, you'll first have to obtain a level-entry pass, solve a puzzle, and avoid being killed by radiation or other players' bullets.
Where to find a blue card in Rust
The main way to obtain a key is to pick it up from a table in locked rooms on low-tier RTs, behind a door with a simple electronic lock. Successful entry into these areas requires green card and fuses, which are often found in boxes on most monuments.
On a satellite dish
The puzzle here is not difficult, and to solve it you need one fuse and the entry-level pass:
- Find a rusty shed next to a whole plate and install a power supply inside it.
- Press the lever outside on the back wall of the building.
- Run to the destroyed antennas, find the same structure and open the door with the green card.
It is important to do this before the fuse runs out of power, otherwise you will have to insert another one into the slot.
At the ferry terminal
Here the principle of action is the same as in the previous RT:
- There's a rusty trailer at the entrance to the complex. Place the fuse inside and flip the switch outside.
- Run behind the main building: next to its right end, behind a fence, is a similar structure with a hermetic door. If you don't have a green card in your inventory, you can pick it up at the reception desk along the way.
- Open the electronic lock and take the new pass from the table.
In Port
There are two RTs with this name at the location, but they differ in size and content:
- The puzzle in the small port is one of the simplest: find the two-story residential trailer near the entrance. The switch and control panel are on the first floor, and the airtight door is on the second.
- In the large port, the puzzle pieces are located in different buildings, but close to each other. The room with the switch is a small trailer next to a wallless hangar. The airtight door is in a similar shed under a canopy.
In the sewer outlet
The monument consists of only one building on the surface and underground utilities underneath it.
- Enter the red hangar, activate the switch inside and place the power cell in the panel.
- Use the circular descent underground outside and run along the tunnel until you hit a hermetic door that can be opened with a green key.
- Go through the first hall, then turn right in the pipe. The card will be waiting on the table next to the illuminated spotlight.
Other ways to obtain
If you don't feel like solving puzzles at the RT, you can get a Level 2 pass through a safer method—by gutting caught fish. However, the item only appears inside certain fish, and only with a chance of 20 %:
- Catfish lives in fresh water.
- Atlantic orange roughy - lives in the depths of the ocean.
- Salmon is a large sea fish.
- A small shark that lives only in the ocean.
Previously, you could purchase a key at the Peaceful City trading terminal for 100 scrap metal, but in the current version of the game, you can no longer buy it there—the blue card can only be sold.
How to use a blue card
The received pass can be used to open hermetic doors with blue locks. Behind them, you'll find not only valuable resources but also a red access card leading to the most valuable rewards. This can be done at several RTs:
- Treatment facilities.
- Underwater laboratory.
- Railway depot.
- Power station.
- Oil derrick.
- Large oil rig.
- Military tunnel.
- Arctic research base.
- Aerodrome.
To solve the puzzles at these monuments, in addition to the blue access card itself, you'll need a green one and several fuses. Be careful when exploring these locations for loot—they're a favorite spot for players and are often guarded by scientists.
