Hello tankers! With you Wotpack and we, albeit a little late, but got to the top of the new “double-barreled shotguns” ST-II. There was a lot of attention around the release of this branch, VG tried to create a powerful PR campaign, streamers and just skill players pumped out as quickly as possible. Therefore, at the same time, at the end of the article, we will mention the statistics on this machine for its first month in random.
Many have already noticed that ST-II this is an improved version of level 9 ST-I:
- slightly better frontal armor of the tower;
- more margin of safety;
- due to the modified form, a stronger NLD;
- and of course the presence of twin guns.
In the next article, we will explain why the developers, instead of replacing the IS-4, released a separate branch with ST-II.
The main disadvantages of ST-II
Since we do not recommend downloading this tank, let's look at its shortcomings.
Vitality
First of all, survival is important for the heavy, and he has problems with this:
- NLD large and lightly armored, located at right angles, therefore breaks through from 200 mm;
- VLD can tank, but in the center is the driver's hatch, which breaks through from 250 mm;
- Huge commander's cupola, so even if you hide the case, you can still pierce it without much difficulty (in its form it is even less reliable than that of ST-I).
Other indicators
There is not much to focus on here, but there are a few points:
- worst mobility among Soviet TTs 10;
- minimum overview;
- but invisibility after a shot is reduced the least (interesting, despite the fact that he has two guns).
Firepower
Since the tank does not drive well and practically does not tank, then it must shoot well? But even here the technology does not live up to expectations. Please note that ST-II exactly the same tool as ST-I, T-10, IS-4 with the only difference that he has it paired.
Let's take a closer look at the weapon parameters.
- Armor penetration by the base projectile is still within the normal range, but look at special cumulative with 310 mm breakdown.
- And the question immediately arises: why IS-2-II и IS-3-II a gold sub-cliber projectile that pierces screens and deals damage through the skating rink, and ST-II gave a weakly penetrating cumulative?
- Usually low penetration is compensated by good final accuracy? Not this time, it is practically the worst 0,38.
- Well, if he doesn’t break through and doesn’t hit, can it at least come down quickly? Again no aiming time is 2,88, which is even longer than that of the Object 705A with a 152 mm gun.
Same with ST-II most low turret traverse speed. Add to this poor maneuverability, and we get an ideal victim for mobile LT and ST, which will not be difficult to spin it. But there is also a positive point in this - while the gun is slowly turning, the dispersion circle practically does not increase, therefore, when firing on the move ST-II often hits the mark.
Results
Crown of double-barreled tanks got too ambiguous and raises a lot of questions. For the month of February, the average damage in the RU region by ST-II amounted to 2483 units. This is less than the WZ-111 5A, Super Conqueror, 60TP and just a little behind him AMX50B, 277 object, Kranvagn, T57 Heavy Tank. This is despite the fact that the listed vehicles were mainly played by ordinary average players, and on the top “double-barreled shotguns” over the past month, extras and bloggers who played with improved consumables, gold shells and with a pumped crew made such damage indicators.
У ST-II has its strengths, but it is difficult to implement them in the current random house with a number of its shortcomings. Therefore, we would recommend stop at level 9 IS-3-II, which is mobile, has ricochet armor and an excellent gun.

for me, the biggest minus in this branch is this delay before the volley. I pressed to shoot and there was no shot, immediately some kind of preparation after the volley and the enemy was already hiding. I don’t understand this thing at all.
This is the preparation of the volley. We recommend pressing the preparation button in advance, and if the enemy did not leave the shelter, then at the last second, press the button (reset) and prepare a volley again. Therefore, when the enemy nevertheless leaves, there are more chances that the “double-barreled shotgun” will be ready for a double shot.
