Who is the Steel Sting in Genshin Impact suitable for?

The sword has a medium basic attack, but no bonus stats for increased damage. It won't work for a main damage dealer, but the passive and elemental mastery make it a good option for a reactor character:

who suits the Steel Sting
  • Anemo Traveler – Mastery of the Elements will increase the damage from the Dispel reaction and will allow you to give out good damage from skills. For the Traveler, this will be enough.
  • Dendro Traveler - similar benefits. He also needs Elemental Mastery, but for the Budding reaction.
  • Kaeya - if he is in the position of the reactor, and there are no better weapon options, then the Steel Sting will suit him. Mastery of the Elements will allow you to increase the damage from dispel, melt and superconductor, and if you have stacking levels, also ults.
  • Xingqiu - a very good option for him. All Hydro Reactions, and especially Vaporize and Charged, will deal more damage due to the characteristics of the sword, which means that Xingqiu's sup-dd will become noticeably stronger.
  • Keqing is able to instantly activate Sting's passive effect thanks to Star's Return and deal a huge amount of Electro damage from normal attacks and ults. In addition, all reactions with Electro, especially overload, are charged and the superconductor will become more destructive.
  • Kazuha - a great free sword for him. Mastery of the elements is very important to him - one of the passives depends on it, which increases the elemental damage of allies. Having the 6th constellation gives him an Anemo infusion on his sword, allowing him to trigger even more dispel reactions based on elemental mastery. In addition, Kazuha himself is a very strong Anemo sup-dd.
  • Layla - a good option if the heroine plays in teams with Pyro heroes and is collected in damage. Then she will be able to implement the mastery of the elements in the second stat of the weapon and receive a bonus to damage, which will significantly strengthen her.
  • Nilou needs mastery of the elements, as in his classic build he plays from Budding. This sword is one of the best FTP options for her. However, keep in mind that the damage buff will not affect the explosion of cores.
  • Alhaitham - a good free sword that will increase the DPS from reactions thanks to the main stat in the form of MS and at the same time increase all damage dealt to enemies. One of the best weapons at the start or in the absence of alternatives.
  • Clorinde – the sword is suitable when playing in Dendro teams, where elemental mastery is realized. Weapon overlay will play a big role as it will directly affect her damage.

How to play with Steel Sting

It is enough to choose a character and equip a blade. Using an elemental skill in front of the ult will increase its damage, as a 1-2 stacking level will appear. This will be especially effective for Anemo heroes or Keii due to the low cooldown of his Cold Lunge. The more different elements in the squad (for example, there are 4 of them), the better for the owner of the Steel Sting - the damage from all reactions will be increased, and the appearance of crystallization will increase the strength of the shields received.

Hello! This weapon does not work from the pocket; the wielder must activate the effect while being the active character.

The passive works (yellow sword icons appear), but when I check my stats, I don't see any increase. No change at all. How can I check if the sword is working correctly?

Answer  Eugene

Hello! The "damage increase" effect isn't reflected in the hero's stats, as it essentially just increases any damage, and there's no indication of the damage's stats. For example, if the effect were "elemental damage increase," you'd see an increase in the elemental damage of the hero's corresponding element. Therefore, you'll know the passive has triggered only when the sword icons appear, and only by them.

I wonder if the damage to vegetation increases if you put it on cookies?

Answer  Serge

I wondered about that too, and I suspect not. Vegetation is a separate reaction calculated using its own formula. In theory, the sting only increases the damage of Cookie's E-Shock and Ultimate, and shouldn't affect Buds, but that's just a guess.

The passive and MS will buff the damage of all reactions, and the damage and healing from the E-Shka will also increase, but you can also collect cookies in HP.

So, with MS, Kuki's ring damage and healing increases. In practice, the increase is minimal, of course. But since Kuki doesn't swing a sword, why not put it there?

Here's a question: does the Steel Sting's passive work for the entire squad or just the weapon's user?

Hello, only for the weapon carrier.
