'Childhood's Shadow' in Neverness to Everness is a mission about the past of architect Patty, which is part of the "Miles Apart" series. Switching between the surface and hidden worlds in the anomaly, find memorabilia and try to change the ending of the story.
In the New Herland district, enter the Gold Apple Collection Hall (on the west side of the building). At the "Lights On" point, talk to Iris, interact with the "Lamp" anomaly, and initiate the first incident. Once you reach the exhibition room with a bunch of crates, receive A Switch from "Tungsten" from the lamp NPC.
If you encounter any difficulties during the process or bugs, we advise you to leave the quest area and start it again.
Miles apart
Go outside, follow the light, and talk to the girl on the swing. When she hides in the house, knock on the door several times.
Talk to the builder and Patty
From here on in the story, use A Switch from "Tungsten" to look at the world from a different perspective. It switches between in the afternoon(now) and at night (the past).
In dialogues with a construction worker and a female designer, you learn that she wants to recreate the old furnishings in her childhood home.
Head to the park for inspiration
Go into the alley and run along the linear path to the playground, where you can inspect four attractions in order.
Choose the right type of flowers
Take a wild rose, growing in the corner near the piano in the store.
Are memories always sweet?
Having accepted the architect's invitation to visit her, you hear about her mother for the first time.
Take a look around the inside of the house
After the conversation in the kitchen, use A Switch from "Tungsten" and in the nightly world, approach the girl sitting on the couch.
Once you find yourself outside in front of a locked door, switch to the "day" and go back into the house.
Childhood's Shadow
Explore the architect's house and change the ending of the story.
Obtain the required item to make the memory last
After exploring the first and second floors, find all the objects that hold memories:
- Go up to the second floor, find the bathroom at night and get The Key from a pile of dirty clothes. Use it during the day in Patty's room to open the closet and take the book "The Fox and the Swing" (new).
- In the past, in the kids' room, pick up a Damaged Red Teddy Bear.
- In the present, on the first floor, fix the toy with the help of Toolbox.
- At night in the kitchen, rip off the refrigerator the sticker with a Cake recipe.
Bring Paint Can to Patty
In the past, find a Paint Can in the girl's room on the second floor. Return to the present and talk to the girl outside to receive the final key item in exchange: Patty's Design Draft.
Use the items in another world
At night, before entering the bathroom, pick up the letter for Patty on the nightstand. Once the space changes, follow the long hallway with a light at the end.
If you did something wrong, you can "relive the memory" here and roll back the quest's progress.
In the new dimension, consistently return the items you find to reach the correct ending. When interacting with the floating bed, select The Fox and the Swing (new) book.
Head to the easel and go through the hallway to hand over the next item.
From a glass with brushes and scattered paints, select Patty's Design Draft.
Go to the cake and when asked about adding sugar, give the sticker with the recipe.
Run to the toy one last time and select the Mended Teddy Bear.
Defeat the enemies from childhood
In the distorted space, fight three enemies, then go through the glowing frame.
After defeating several waves of ghost knights in succession, you will be able to talk to the little girl and receive A burnt hair clip from her.
Letter from the past
Return to the house and give the hair pin to Patty who's standing by the TV.
Go to the storage room on the second floor
After the conversation about her mother's death, go up to the second floor. After listening to the girl, switch to the night scene and start a conversation with the girl in the storage room.
Give Patty the letter and talk to her
Find the architect outside during the day. Witness a touching scene and escape the anomaly to earn the "Letter from the Past"(Annulith ×10) achievement from the "Bopp in a Boxx" section.
The burnt hair clip remains in your inventory after the quest is completed, but there's no one to give it to. Patty can't be found in the real world.
Quest Rewards
After completing the mission you will receive:
- annulith ×60;
- Hunter EXP ×400;
- Fons ×15 000;
- Senior Hunter Guide x12;
- Colorless Dye ×12;
- Beetle Coin ×30.

If you left the quest and can’t catch up.
I need the Wolfram switch, it's always in my inventory, I removed it from my quick slot and then couldn't find it.
From another world you can return back to the house through the same corridor, they all remain connected.
A completely idiotic quest made by an idiot. It's impossible to complete, even with the guide. Nothing works.
I didn't pick up the bear on the dresser before opening another world. Has anyone else encountered this? What should I do?
Use the "relive memories" option in another world.
It doesn't work... she's talking about a bear... And I didn't take it from the dresser that disappears after opening the "other world"
Isn't he on the first floor near the sewing box?
Items don't disappear after opening the "other world." Perhaps you've just encountered a bug? I was able to find and search for items without any issues after opening the "other world."
Please contact technical support if the quest itself is buggy.
Just exit this world and re-enter through the lamp in the museum, collect everything you need and go through
i just started it over after couple days and just took items that i missed last time and finished it without any problems
all items you have picked on first run are still in your bags
just remember to put day night switching thing on quick access menu
