"Gangs of Novigrad" - one of the side quests of The Wicther 3: Wild Hunt, which can be safely attributed to the number of controversial ones.
It would seem that completing side quests should add nice bonuses to the character, but completing the “Gangs of Novigrad” quest in The Witcher 3 can easily have a bad effect on the main plot and add a headache to the player. That is why you need to study all the pitfalls in advance in order to prevent the game from overplaying itself.
How to take the Gangs of Novigrad quest
The player receives the quest automatically, passing the story mission "The Hunt for Junior".
Advancing in Novigrad according to the main plot, the player, together with the witcher, finds himself in the baths. Their owner is Sigi Reuven (he - Sigismund Dijkstra, an old acquaintance of Geralt), an important city person, and along the way - one of the leaders of the "big four" gangs of Novigrad. In the bath, the former spy is kept company Francis Bedlam - "King of the Beggars" and leader of the dwarf bandits Cleaver (Carl Varese).
While the bandits decide what to do with the leader of the Heartbreakers, Bastard Jr., the latter's henchmen burst into the bathhouse, from which the audience has everything they need. When, having dealt with the attackers, the participants of the "bath gatherings" are going to disperse, Cleaver offers Geralt to help deal with the situation. This is where the task begins, full of pitfalls.
Should I accept the dwarf's offer?
At first glance, Tesak's offer looks tempting. By accepting it, the player will not have to listen to a bunch of dialogues, spend time in the gladiatorial arena and playing Gwent. Having agreed to the help of the dwarf, the witcher, in the company of bandits, simply will kill the Bastard group without much conversation.
What is wrong with the side effect, which, it would seem, makes Geralt's path so easy?
By agreeing to work with Tesak, the player essentially cut off the main plot line, will miss the experience and fail some points of the central quest, for example, he will not be able to get inside the Bastard's estate in Oxenfurt through the neighbor's basemyont - the gatekeepers will recognize him and raise the alarm.
So if the plot is more important for the player, then help should be rejected. If he passes the game not for the first time or just to save time, then why not agree?
How to complete the task together with Tesak?
After the baths, you need to go to Tesak's house in the center of Novinrad. The dwelling of the dwarf will be found between the Vivaldi bank and the Henkel house.
Cleaver will offer Geralt, together with a team of dwarves-bandits, to visit and, frankly, cut out two stumps of the Bastard Junior - arena and casino. The order in which the points are cleared is not important.
Casino
Little bandits will be waiting for the witcher in the alley nearby. You need to approach them and start a conversation.
The Witcher commands the gang to start, and the whole friendly company runs to the casino. The dwarves immediately neutralize the gatekeepers, and Geralt has only to finish off one of the mercenaries.
It should be borne in mind that the bandits will clean up only the first two floors. The witcher will have to deal with the third on his own.
The quest point will end once the player has eliminated the guards.
In one of the rooms on the third floor, Geralt may stumble upon little Rico - Bedlam's spy, exposed by the Bastard's gang. The witcher will receive a quest from Rico "Thieves' Honor".
Arena
Having finished with the casino, you can go to the second point - arena. The plot of the mission is exactly the same as in the casino.
The main difficulty here will be the office of the battle manager - Igor Kryuk. The Witcher will be waiting for a fight at the same time with about a dozen fighters.
In this battle, Geralt will need Poison of the Hanged Man!
When the arena is cleared, you need to delve into Igor's cache. The key to it can be found on Hook's body. In the chest, the witcher is waiting for what is needed to advance on the quest "Hunt for Junior" letter.
Now time to go back to Tesak.
Gangs of Novigrad quest reward
How Karl will reward Geralt depends on the mission.
- the hero worked with the dwarves at both points and finished off the maximum of enemies - 300 crowns;
- Gerald resorted to help in only one of the places - 150 crowns;
- help was not used at all - don't expect a reward, but the mission will be considered completed and Geralt's experience will be rolled off for it.
To get involved in this quest or not is up to the player to decide. But if he still decides to try to pass it, then it is best to move clearly along the passage - this will help at least avoid bugs and prevent the task from breaking the plot even stronger.
