Throughout the game, Geralt encounters not only ordinary monsters, but also monsters in the guise of people. One of these is King of Redania - Radovid V the Ferocious, which is associated with the task "Affairs of national importance».
Passage «Affairs of national importance" at The Witcher 3 - one of the most important missions among the interesting and significant quests that affect not only the fate of individual people, but also the position of states.
King Radovid can be found during the main campaign. It is he tells Geralt where to look for Ciri, giving the location of Bastard Junior. It's a fleeting but memorable moment.
This is not the last meeting with the lord of Redania. By completing the secondary tasks of Novigrad, you can significantly influence the outcome of the war Northern Kingdoms against the southern invader in the face of the Nilfgaard Empire. White wolf can change the ruler of Redania, indirectly influencing events, and even kill a ferocious ruler. Fortunately, not with his own hand, because he is not Leto from Gulet (a reference to the killer of kings).
How to get the quest
The mission, as a result of which you can change the king of Redania, is called "Affairs of national importance».
To get the quest, you need:
- Complete the side quest "Deadly conspiracy».
- During a conversation with Dijkstra, it must be said that Emhyr var Emreis is in search of Cirilla. This conversation takes place in the mission "It's darkest under the lantern» (part of the story campaign).
- Take the taskAffairs of national importance» needed before starting the main mission «On thin ice».
Passage of the task
During the mission "It's darkest under the lantern» Dijkstra will invite Geralt to a meeting in Port. Arriving at the specified warehouse, the player will see there Vernon Roche, Thalera и Dijkstru.
A cutscene will begin: the trinity will tell what they want overthrow Radovid the Fifthby killing him. They need Geralt to get to the lord of Redania, because the king not so long ago used the services of the White Wolf to search for Philippa Eilhart.
Next, the conspirators reveal the main part of the plan: the witcher must say that he has discovered the secret hiding place of the sorceress. As a result, Radovid will personally go after Geralt, and an ambush will await him on the bridge.
Murder of Radovid
After the consent of the White Wolf, it turns out that Tyler and Dijkstra will not take part in the murder of the king. A pair of conspirators will be waiting for the witcher in Theater Madame Irene with the news.
Geralt is already going to go to Radovid to lure him out, when he appears Philippa Eilhart и insists on participatingin order to take revenge on the fierce king. She will give the White Wolf ring as proof for the lord of Redania that the sorceress was really figured out. Now you can go to the ship and talk to Radovid.
The still acting king will at first be skeptical of Geralt's words, butas soon as the protagonist shows the ring with a signet, Radovid will immediately become interested. Vladyka will be surprised: why did the White Wolf not bring Philippa to him, since he found her? The Witcher will explain that he only established the location of the sorceress and managed to pick up the evidence, so you need to leave as soon as possible before she escapes.
The next scene is passing on St. Gregor's Bridge: Radovid gives orders to his subjects and at the end declares that Get rid of Geraltbecause he knows too much. With such a statement, the lord of Redania will only bring his end closer, because the conspirators with their small army will immediately attack, first firing at opponents, and then colliding in close combat.
The gameplay will begin, where you need to pick up a sword and cut down the royal guard. After the White Wolf defeats five enemies, a cutscene is activated in which the witcher equips his equipment. Now things will go easier, especially with the help of the "blue stripes" Roche.
When all the royal guards are destroyed, a cutscene will turn on: Radovid hides and knocks in panic on the nearest door. But Vladyka is not happy at all with the person who opens it. Philippa Eilhart. First, she will make the king of Redania blind, and then take his life. Revenge is done.
Political elections
Philippa will turn into an owl and fly away. By the way, it was such an owl that sat in the window in the warehouse, where the conspirators discussed the plan to overthrow Radovid. And no it's not a coincidence.
The king has been successfully killed, and now all the persons associated with this have gathered in Theater Madame Irene. Only now the witcher is initiated into the plans, announcing that now Temeria will become autonomous, and stop partisan activities against Nilfgaard. Country in full secede from the Northern Kingdoms and formally independent.
At least, such an agreement was between Roche (with Thaler) and Dijkstra, but the latter decides to betray the former partners in the conspiracy in order to become the ruler of the whole North. Several soldiers will come out, ready to carry out Dijkstra's order. At the same time, Geralt has the opportunity to step aside, thereby supporting the former head of Redanian intelligence.
There are 2 choices:
- Side with Dijkstra. He will crush the entire North under him and lead him to victory over Nilfgaard. Emhyr var Emreis will be killed by the aristocrats of the empire.
- Side with Roche, Thaler and Bianca. In this case, Dijkstra will give the order to kill the White Wolf along with everyone else. During the battle, it is necessary to destroy everyone, including the former head of the Redan intelligence. Nilfgaard will win the war, there will be an opportunity to put Ciri on the imperial throne.

Well, personally, I did not complete the quest at all. And Radovid remained on the throne.
In the war between the king and the sorcerers, I sympathize more with the king. After all, the sorcerers sowed more chaos with their intrigues and sabotage than the same Scoia-taels.
And you don’t know that after the sorcerers run out, Radovid will take on the rest - elves, gnomes, healers, dopplers, etc. He's a sick bastard.
In addition, Ciri will never become an empress, which means the war will continue.
And here's the question. Passed this quest on the side of Roche. Then, in the Heart of Stone, Shari says that Radovid is dead, but the war with the Nilfs is still going on. And if both Radovid and Dijkstra are dead, who leads Redania?
Apparently the conclusion of peace occurs after the main story.
Rather improbable: Nilfgaard wants an immediate conclusion of peace, and the witcher can walk for a few more months.
But the developers can be understood: in the case of peace, the entire Velen will have to be changed. And a bunch of quests.
