The beast is constantly affected with Cryo, so it's necessary to Swirl the status on the real wolf so that it affects the phantom. To complete the second objective, kill the Fangs of the Wilderness after killing the phantom once. After it despawns, the enemy will become immobile for a while, leaving them vulnerable to attack.
If the wolf managed to re-engage an ally for the remaining time, you must deal with the boss without harming its companion, so the requirement will still be met.

The boss deals a ton of damage, killing the hero in a couple of hits. I can't get the second achievement because I can't kill my ally while he's lying there after the first one, and when he summons the second wolf, if you follow the guide's suggestion to "kill the wolf without hitting his ally," then his resistances are insane, and both of them rush around and pummel me, so it's not an option.
