The wolf is an aggressive creature, which, nevertheless, can become a Viking's best friend. The main thing is to master the mechanics of taming, as well as learn as much information as possible about these animals.
Fight monsters and bosses in valheim it is much more pleasant when a reliable comrade covers your back. It doesn't have to be a friendly viking - much more often players prefer to tame wolves.
All about wolves: where they live, behavioral features
These wild animals hunt in mountains. Always move in a flock of up to 4 individuals. Attack the player quickly, so it is worth preparing in advance for a meeting with them. Perfect fit healing potions. Of course, don't forget about frost-resistant mead, since for the Mountain biome this is simply a must.
Wolves sometimes found alone, but this is rarely seen. It is worth being wary of predators that appear at night - they spawn "two-star", that is, with increased characteristics.
To combat them, it is recommended use a bow, as well as constantly parry attacks. Blocking - not the best option, since all attention will be directed mainly to one wolf. Other members of the flock will be able to easily take advantage of this fact and simply tear the Viking to shreds.
Taming and breeding
There are 2 main ways to tame a wolf. For the first one, you will need to spend several days in the Mountains. The process itself is very similar to domestication boars.
- First you need to dig a deep hole so that the wolves cannot get out of it on their own.
- We cover the trap with a wooden deck.
- We go in search of predators. We draw the attention of one of them. Most likely, at first you have to deal with a whole flock. Further, gently lure animals to the pit.
- We quickly run across the floor. The wolves will move along the same trajectory that the character was running.
- When the predators are already on the wooden deck, then you should remove it abruptly. Thus, the animals will fall into the pit.
Next, it is necessary feed the wolves raw meat. Over time, predators will become loyal to the player, so you just need to wait a bit. You can track the success of taming by a special indicator that shows the percentage of affection. When the score reaches 100 - it means that the Viking has a reliable comrade. A message will also be displayed: “Wolf is now with you”.
There is also a second way to tame. It is very similar to the first, but in the process it is used player's dwelling. The main thing is to build aviary with a ladder, having a small passage. The essence of the trap is to lure the wolves right into this building. When the animals are inside, you should quickly build up that very narrow passage. In this way, the predators will not be able to get out, and they can be fattened with raw meat.
It is important that the wolves are tamed individually, since friendly individuals will resist wild animals. Therefore, it is necessary to build partitions in your own pit or trap house, so that predators do not cross each other while feeding. Further, you can increase their number yourself.
Wolves are great weapons. If you breed them, it appears a unique opportunity to cope with any bosspresented in Valheim. For breeding animals, you should simply give them the opportunity to be together, in the same enclosure without partitions. As already known: both individuals must be tamed, so that the wolves do not suddenly start a fight among themselves.
To increase the number it is important to take into account the free space in the aviary. So, the more space, the more wolves will be born. Interestingly, even in a confined space domesticated predators will create a flock of up to 6 individuals. Also, new wolves can spawn outside the paddock if they simply do not have enough space inside. Experienced players, knowing these 2 facts, use them to breed predators endlessly.
Useful drop and trophies
Dropped items primarily depend on the “stardom” of a particular wolf. Trophies (heads) are dropped with a probability of 10% for all categories of predators. The skin of this animal always drops guaranteed (100%). Thus, from one opponent you can get:
- Starless Beast - Raw Meat and Wolf Fang have a 40% chance to drop.
- 1-Star Beast - Raw Meat and Wolf Fang have an 80% chance to drop.
- 2-Star Beast - Raw Meat and Wolf Fang have a 100% chance to drop.
