"A Great Heart Bound by a Fine Chain" is the first task in Genshin Impact about a giant trapped in the middle of a frozen lake. During the journey from Svetloledovka to Snezhnograd through the Permafrost wastelands, you can see a giant held by ice threads. Examine him and try to help him.
How to start the quest
Snow's side mission will become available at:
- presence on the account of the 18th adventure rank or higher;
- open Cryo region and the completed task Shots in the Land of Silence.
Head to the center of the frozen lake east of the railroad leading from Snezhnograd to Svetloledovka. The quest can be started in two ways:
- Approach the chained colossus and examine it carefully.
- Find the chimera near one of the anchors holding the chain.

Explore the chains that bound the giant
To break the chains you will need to find all four anchors and remove the seals blocking them. Each one is located nearby, within the yellow quest area.
Solve the riddle with the phonograph in the house
First, head to the hut in the south. You won't be able to enter right away, as all the doors are blocked by ice. Look for a ruined building nearby with Cryoculum and go down into the underground passage.
Once you reach the barrier, go into build mode and place it next to the ice wall. simple heat sourceWait for the barrier to dissolve and proceed into the corridor where there's a regular chest. Beforehand, grab the spark and take it to the next block.
As soon as you enter the house, you will hear a gentle male voice saying: "Put the phonograph under the picture frame, and we'll dance our last dance."Find the temporary blueprint for the device on one of the shelves and place the construct on the chest under the painting on the wall.
The next request for a vote will be: "If I can't return from the battlefield, then put it in my place, as I once sang for you."Place the new instrument on the large chair near the table in the center of the room. When the ghost asks you to put the phonograph under the cabinet, hide another one in the illuminated area under the shelves.
For completing the instructions, the phantom will unlock the door and leave a rich chest as a reward. Follow the girl to the base of the chain and watch as she breaks the seal. Then use the character's normal attacks to break the shackles.
Solve the riddle with the painting in the cave
Continue along the shore to another southern anchorage. Find a hillock and a small passage in the rock, blocked by colored ice.
Take the temporary blueprint from the destroyed wagon. Place the snowthrower opposite the entrance, some distance away.
Enter the device and aim for the passage. Launch yourself inside so you quickly fly past the Tsar's Birch Gate, which closes as you approach.
Next to the ghost at the easel, read "The Concept of the Painting." The clue tells you to arrange the ice animal figurines in the order shown in the picture.
First, collect the rewards from another rich chest, and then dismantle the bright frozen barrier.
Take the blueprint for the Gray Wolf and place it next to the chair. Pick up the Red-breasted Plover recipe from the crate and place it on the lantern.
Sit on the chair to help the girl draw a man surrounded by animals. When the painting is complete, follow the phantom and break another chain.
Help the girl get through
The third anchor is at the bottom of the ravine north of the colossus. Look for the familiar ghostly figure on the nearby ledge and approach it.
Watch as the ghost nimbly jumps over the gap and catch up with him.
Place a launch pad on the highlighted spot to help the ghost move forward. The shadow will reach the closed window and stop again.
Dismantle the barrier and enter the building. When the ice sculptures appear, it will become clear that the shadow is afraid of the Snow Maiden. Use Build Mode to destroy all the girl statues in the hall.
At the far end of the room, a secret passage is blocked by a mechanism. Place a hook-and-sickle gun nearby so that it connects with a string to the hook on the wall.
Behind the barrier, you'll find the third rich chest and you can follow the girl outside. Once again, destroy the Snow Maiden figures that appear ahead and behind you.
Reach another seal and break the anchor after removing it.
Save the girl from the monster
The last shackles are nearby, in the same crevice to the south. Walk forward a bit until you see the monster.
Defeat the chimera and help the ghost reach the final chain. Break the seal and watch the cutscene of the giant's release.
To continue, wait about one in-game day or use the time rewind feature. Soon, Oko Grai will send a message "about a giant figure appearing by the sea" and mark a location on the map where the next mission will begin: "Like a Labyrinth, It Imprisons Its Servants."
