Energy recharge в Genshin Impact is one of the main characteristics of the character and is responsible for the rate of energy gain to activate the ult. Beginners often underestimate this indicator, preferring "combat" stats. But experienced players are aware of its importance, since the lack of energy will not allow to effectively use the explosion of the elements, which can simply disrupt the rotation or significantly reduce the dps of both an individual character and the group as a whole.
The article explains how energy recovery works and what it gives, and provides recommendations for increasing this indicator.
How Energy Recovery Works in Genshin Impact
With a few exceptions, most of the energy comes from elemental particles and spheres, which give a well-defined value at 100% energy recharge. 100% is the base value for this parameter. Accordingly, the greater the indicator of this characteristic, the more energy is generated from particles and spheres.
What are elemental particles and spheres?
elemental particles - look like small colored balls that fly out of enemies and are drawn into the character. They can be obtained:
- for using elemental skills;
- for dealing 50% damage to normal enemies;
- for killing ordinary enemies;
- for every 25% damage dealt against elite enemies.
Elemental Orbs - look like larger particles and recover three times more energy. They can only be obtained by killing elite enemies.
Transition of particles into energy
The amount of energy that each particle of energy gives at 100% energy recharge:
| Character | Neutral element particle (pure) | Particle of your element | Alien element particle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active | 2 | 3 | 1 |
| Rest of the group | 1.2 | 1.8 | 0.6 |
For elemental spheres the values from the table must be multiplied by 3.
Who Needs Energy Recovery in Genshin Impact
Absolutely needs to restore energy in one way or another every character, since the characteristic directly affects how often the hero can activate his ultimate ability. It happens that the need for this indicator is simply lower compared to some heroes. However, in one way or another, the restoration of energy is necessary for everyone.

Among the characters for whom this stat is especially important are:
- Secondary dd-bursts: Xiangling, Xingqiu, Yelan etc. They need quite a bit of cooldown to play comfortably (because of the expensive ult) to activate their elemental bursts on cooldown.
- Also support characters (Venti, Kazuha) and heals (Jean, Qiqi, Diona) require a lot of restoration. While their elemental blasts usually don't deal much damage, they are very useful to the group.
- Heroes whose damage depends on this stat (Mona). Her third passive talent increases Hydro's damage bonus from energy regen. This can be partly attributed to Raiden, for which the characteristic is also important.
- Characters with high ult cost: Yae Miko (90 units), Ayaka (80 units), Eula (80 units). Although it makes no sense to rely heavily on EP in this case, in its complete absence, it is worth forgetting about the activation of elemental explosions. So it is necessary to look for a balance in artifacts or a squad.
In most cases, ults basic dd deal quite a lot of damage or activate special effects. But since the squad is built around them, they get enough energy from various sources, so a lot of restoration is not required, but a certain minimum is still needed for a comfortable game.
How to Increase Energy Recovery in Genshin Impact
There are several ways to level up in the game. energy recharge... Let's consider them in more detail.
Artifacts
An extremely large percentage can be scored in the main and secondary characteristics of artifacts. True, in the main energy recharge maybe only hours.
As for set bonuses, in this case the situation is much more modest:
| number | Name | Rarity | Passive Effects | Comment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ![]() The Exile | ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 2-Piece Bonus: Increases energy recovery rate by 20%. 4-Piece Bonus: Using an elemental burst restores 2 energy to the rest of the squad (not the selected character) every 2 sec. within 6 sec. The effect cannot stack. | Pretty good support bonuses - in total fills 18 units. energy to allies for using the ult. But, unfortunately, the initially low rarity of the set (maximum 4 stars) does not compensate for this. |
| 2 | ![]() Scholar | ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 2-Piece Bonus: Increases energy recovery rate by 20%. 4-Piece Bonus: Gaining Elemental Orbs or Motes restores 3. energy to squad members equipped with ranged weapons or a catalyst. Can occur every 3 seconds. | The problem, like the previous set, is the initially limited rarity of the set. |
| 3 | ![]() Emblem of Severed Fate | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 2-Piece Bonus: Increases energy recovery rate by 20%. 4-Piece Bonus: Increases elemental burst damage by an amount equal to 25% of ER. Max bonus is 75%. | This set is one of the most requested. It doesn't have the problems of the previous ones, and the full set bonus is considered very strong for all ults. |

Separately, it is worth highlighting Favonius weapon. At the moment, this line is considered the best support weapon for energy recovery.
Character bonuses
Also in the game there are ways to get energy bypassing the recovery parameter:
- For example, Venti has a passive talent that, at the end of the ult, restores 15 units. energy to all team members.
- Raiden Restores energy to the party each time it hits an enemy during Elemental Burst.
Batteries (Elemental Resonance)
Electro Resonance allows you to generate additional elemental particles, allowing you to accumulate energy faster. But this is just the obvious. In fact, any elemental resonance will allow a certain character to accumulate energy faster.
Consider the most common pair Xiao + Sucrose. By itself, Anemo resonance does not help replenish energy in any way. But if you use the Sucrose elemental skill and then quickly switch to Xiao, he will get all the Anemo particles and energy from them in full. In this case, sucrose acts as Batteries. Her task is to generate particles and give them to Xiao.
Rise of Heroes
There are several characters in the game whose score is energy recharge rises with awakening. At the moment these include:
Recommended Energy Recovery Values
| Elemental explosion cost | Main DD | Sub DD / Support |
|---|---|---|
| 40 | 100 % | 140 % |
| 60 | 120 % | 180 % |
| 80 | 140 % | 220 % |
Energy Recovery Tips
Let's summarize in the form of tips:
- When selecting elemental particles and spheres, regardless of who took them, energy will be received all members of the detachment, albeit not in full (see the table "Transition of particles into energy").
- character on battlefield gets more energy. It is enough just to switch to the right hero in time and catch the particle.
- particles of the same element, as the active character, give more energy.
- Dealing certain damage and killing enemies generates neutral or pure particles, which will also replenish energy.
- If the character dies, he loses all energy.
These tips are the basis for a quick and timely set of energy. It is also worth considering the change of character to select energy in their rotations.

Thanks for the guide
If you don't pick up a particle, will the energy be lost? In other words, is it necessary to chase them, or will they still count?
They're attracted to the character, but if you move away and they don't reach you, they won't count. I've heard that there are players who specifically watch for them and catch them at the right time with the right heroes.
Useful information. Thanks for the guide.
Let me give you an example of how I typically calculate the required value of the VE. Please don't be too harsh, but I was told that my explanation of this information was very helpful, so I decided to write it down.
Naturally, achieving high values of SA, KS, KU, and VE simultaneously is very difficult. But (1) accumulating enough VE so that a character can use their Elemental Burst (I'll write "Q" because it's shorter) on cooldown and (2) bringing the damage-dealing stats to acceptable (average) values isn't all that difficult.
My example is Xingqiu.
His "Q" costs 80 energy. Using an Elemental Skill ("E") generates 5 hydrospheres of energy (you can also use "E" with any other character and see how many spheres are generated, but for some characters the number of spheres generated varies depending on the conditions of the "E" implementation). For each sphere, he will receive 3 energy at 100% VE. So, for "E", he will receive 15 energy out of the required 80 (which is low, given his cooldown of 21 seconds). Therefore, he needs to increase his VE value. His "Q" deals the main damage. (The best choice of artifacts is a full Emblem set, and the weapons are the Sacrificial Greatsword or Favonium. Together, the set and sword will provide 81% energy.)
My Xingqiu has 220% HE (which is 2.2 times more than 100%, meaning that's how much more energy a character will receive from the sphere) and a ceremonial sword (or rather, his passive skill). So, for using "E," he'll receive: (5 Hydro Spheres * 3) * 2.2 = 33 energy, and thanks to the sword's passive, he can use "E" again, receiving another 33 energy, for a total of 66. This is enough to comfortably use his "Q" on cooldown, since he'll also receive some energy passively from other characters, plus particles from enemies.
But when I didn't have a sword with a ceremonial stat, I used Favonium. Its bonus stat gives the same amount of VE, and its passive gives: 6 energy * 2.2 ≈ 13 energy, which, when combined with "E," gives 33 + 13 = 46 energy. (Of course, a weapon with awakenings will significantly increase its comfort. And the 6th constellation makes it a real gem, as it completely covers its energy needs, and it's not a shame to use "Q" even on two Hilichurls.)
I focused on VE so the character would be self-sufficient. Because then they're very comfortable to play and use in rotation on any team. And constant rotation means constant damage...
The following builds are similar: Ye Lan, Beidou, Xiangling, Kaeya, Raiden, Sarah, and Mona. (If Sarah and Mona are used only for buffs, they can be equipped with "Noble"). They all need a lot of VE to use Elemental Burst more often, and "Emblem" allows them to gain more VE, to a comfortable level, without sacrificing damage.
That's why I've been going exclusively to Emblem for 8 months now, but I'm having terrible luck with these artifacts.
Thanks to your comment, I now more or less understand how it all works, thank you)
I probably know the answer, but I want to confirm my suspicions. I can't decide if there's a cap on VE? My Mona has almost 300% VE, and I'm getting the impression that's not necessary. I'm playing with my ult and Drac.Wrestler's Epic. The Enchantment builds faster than the cooldown. Or am I doing this completely wrong?
For characters that rely on their ult, VE is important. Mona is played with her ult, of course, 300% is a bit much. You can lower VE in favor of ult damage and she'll be top-notch.
