The story of the cat goes extremely quickly, in just several hours. After exploring the cyberpunk world surrounding the Tramp, some players wondered how many endings in Stray and is the last scene a reference to the sequel?
In the guide, we will analyze and explain the ending, tell you how many endings there really will be the second part of Stray or not.
How many endings in Stray
Stray has everything one existing ending. Throughout the story, the player is not given any choices or decisions, other than whether to move only through the story or be distracted by the surrounding semi-open world to complete achievements.
Side tasks and the study of settlements will allow you to learn more about the life of robots, get answers to some questions and just delve deeper into the game. When talking with an NPC, you can not only hear a response, but also take a task, for example, to collect notes or plant. In addition, some characters give a commemorative gift in the form of badge.
Stray ending explained: will there be a second part?
Despite the presence of various side quests, the ending and final events will not change. However, exploring the world can affect understanding and explanation of Stray's ending.
There are two main stories running throughout the story: Tramps and B-12s. It is worth noting that, to some extent, the cat is only an auxiliary way to reveal the story of the creator of a small drone: throughout the game, it is the companion who tells about himself, just his memories have to be searched for. Nothing much is said about the Tramp himself, it is only known that he lost his cat family and wants to find them in the Outside.
In the final chapter, B-12 sacrifices his mechanical body to allow the cat to go outside. Moving towards the Outside, the Tramp looks around and walks away. The first version is extremely banal and lies in the fact that Stray is an independent game, the story of the cat is over and there will be no continuation of the open ending: the companion “died”, and the main character got out of the city and went to travel in search of his family.
The second version consists of understatements hinting at the continuation of the story:
- Attentive players may have noticed that a few seconds before the credits appeared, something strange happened: in the left corner of the screen, the electronics started working again. It is impossible to say the exact purpose of the devices, but they are directly connected with the city and, probably, with the dome.
- The story of B-12, or more specifically, the scientist whose mind is digitized in a drone, is unfinished. These are just guesses, but it is unlikely that the developers so simply put an end to the character's storyline, which was developed throughout the game.
- What is happening in the city is still in question. From the moments shown in the game, one can only understand that the roof over Midtown and the Slums has finally been opened. The further history of the inhabitants is not disclosed.
- The tramp got out to the Outside, but his main goal has not been achieved: the cat still has not found his family, to which he has been moving all this time.
In addition, the game came out really short and could be a kind of “pen test”, allowing you to understand whether the audience will like such a project. The game was received very warmly, innuendo in the plot leaves room for expansion of the plot and the creation of a sequel. To some extent, one can be inclined to believe that the second part of Stray will still be and it's only a matter of time.

The developers have been working on this game since at least 2016, or six years. So it's unlikely this was just a trial run. But riding the wave of success, a sequel is possible, if they haven't yet grown sick of it.
What, is Rockstar sick of GTA, for example?
