Walkthrough of the quest Finding Inspiration in Dragon's Dogma 2
Find Fulvio, the sculptor of Battal, and find out why he is delaying the completion of the latest masterpiece commissioned by Clarke of Wernworth. The creator cannot depict a stone griffin without meeting a monster in real life. Help Fulvio sketch the monster, distracting the enemy during battle or turning him to stone.
Visit Fulvio in Battala
As soon as you get to the capital of Bakbattal, go to Fulvio's workshop, located near the paint warehouses. Look inside and talk to the creator who suffers from a lack of inspiration - the man will ask you to take him to the griffin and hint that the head of Medusa can turn anything into stone.
Get to the meeting point and escort Fulvio
We recommend making a backup before your trip. preservation at the hotel or with the help of the manager, since the quest has three endings, and the choice of the protagonist will affect the rewards and results of Fulvio’s work. You can go to the griffin's nest empty-handed and restrain the monster with your own strength, or get the head of Medusa the Gorgon for the best result.
When you're ready, run to the monster's lair, located on the road from Bakbattal to Border Town. Leave the main path and head east between the rocks to meet Fulvio and escort him to the battle site. You can first rest in a camp located not far from the nest, recuperate, or wait out the night.
What happens if the griffin kills Fulvio
At the stage "Escort Fulvio" you can leave the sculptor alone - talk to the man, and he will run to the griffin’s nest without waiting for the Risen. If you don’t follow and don’t hold back the monster, the enemy will simply kill Fulvio after some time.
You can spend the night in the nearest camp and return to the nest, near which the lifeless body of the sculptor will lie. To complete the quest, the creator will have to be resurrected:
- If you did not leave the location, then the body will be near the nest, then you can immediately use stone of awakening and resurrect Fulvio.
- If the body is not there because too much time has passed or you have moved far from the griffin’s abode, then visit Vermund Funeral Home in Wernworth. In the morgue, talk to the attendant and identify Fulvio, and then resurrect him with the same awakening stone.

Afterwards, the man will try to reconstruct the painting from memory and get to work, but the sculpture will turn out completely terrible, and the customer will remain dissatisfied. Therefore, it is better not to let the creator die and do not leave him alone when you get to the meeting place and talk to him.
Fight the griffin for an extended period of time
Move deeper into the crevice, which ends in a dead end, and appear before the griffin. While Fulvio runs nearby and makes sketches, you need to hold the monster for as long as possible - fight or turn it into stone using the head of Medusa.
How to delay a griffin in battle
If you decide to restrain the monster on your own, then keep in mind that Fulvio will need approximately 3-3,5 minutes. Sufficiently advanced players can ask the squad to wait on the side and go one-on-one with the enemy, diverting attention from the pawns and the sculptor. A good option is to knock him down with stunning blows to the head, and then simply leave him alone until the griffin gets up. The monster will fly away when it has very little health left, but the quest goal will still be completed, but Fulvio will remain dissatisfied.
Wait until the sculptor reports that everything is ready and he has enough sketches. You can clean out the nest where the monster collects interesting finds - when Fulvio leaves the location, the enemy will immediately return with fresh strength and a full health bar. Kill him for experience and materials, or just run away as soon as you complete the main objective of the mission.
Find Medusa's head to turn the griffin to stone
If you don't want to fight the griffin, you'll have to take Medusa's head to turn him to stone.
There are two ways to get an item:
- Chop off. Change your calling to a warrior who can carry a heavy two-handed weapon, and go straight to the Nera-Battal chasm, located south of Bakbattal. Fight the Gorgon Medusa, but don't kill her the traditional way - instead, climb on her back and while the monster is using her petrification skill, cut off her head. We discussed in detail in a separate guide how to cut off Medusa's head.
- Find in stock. Sneak into the castle after receiving key to Vermund's treasury, and search the room on the lower floor.

Please note that the body part also deteriorates over time and may become unusable, so don’t carry it in your inventory for a long time or immediately go to the griffin’s nest.
After speaking with Fulvio, equip the Medusa Head from your inventory and enter the nest where the griffin awaits. Just wait for the monster to land, enter the item menu, use the head and target the enemy. Continue holding it until the griffin is completely petrified.
After this, you won’t have to fight the monster, and Fulvio will be very pleased with the result and will be able to freely work on the sketch.
Attend a show at Clark's estate
Wait a couple of days, and then visit Fulvio in his workshop to check on the progress of the work. You can sleep at home, in a hotel, or just take a nap on the nearest bench. The man has already completed the sculpture and sent it to Clark - the gentleman invites the Risen to his exhibition, where he will present his latest masterpiece.
Return to the capital of Vermund, get to Clark's house, go up to the second floor and turn into the room on the left where the show is taking place. The owner, to a roar of applause, will remove the curtain covering the statue of a man fighting a griffin.
The success of Fulvio's sketches will affect how the sculpture will look, as well as dialogue and quest rewards:
- The worst option is if the creator died during the task and had to be resurrected.
- Average result - if you fought with the griffin for a long time.
- The best sculpture is if you turned the griffin into stone on the battlefield.
After a short cutscene, the task will come to an end, those present will thank the master and the Risen for the work done, and the master will present the reward.
Rewards
For completing the quest “In Search of Inspiration”, rewards are given depending on the ending and the quality of the sculpture:
- If Fulvio died and had to be resurrected: experience ×4 500, gold ×7.
- If you fought a griffin: experience ×4, gold ×500.
- If you turned a monster to stone: experience ×4, gold ×500.
If you want to earn more money, we still recommend getting the head of Medusa; besides, having it will make the passage much easier - you won’t have to hold the griffin for a long time.
