Consider all British light tanks, what they are, what are the features of performance characteristics and gameplay. And we will answer the question that always arises when new equipment is introduced into the game: “Is it worth downloading?”
Historical information
In the post-war years, British design thought was devoted to various modifications of light tanks. The projects were distinguished by unusual design solutions, most of which remained exclusively on paper, only a small part reached the prototype stage.
The new branch of light tanks has become relatively historical, it resurrects the most interesting designs from archival blueprints.
GGSR 3301 Setter
The first LT, with which you will get acquainted, will become a kind of transitional link from ST to LT. You will have to put up with a long cooldown and, as a result, the lowest damage - this will be the case up to and including the 10th level. In return, we get solid armor penetration, but a low alpha strike. Stealth is good, but mobility is still one of the worst.
Will have to get used to the rear location of the tower, so it will be a little easier for fans of the French "fireflies" to master the new technique. And the second point that you also have to come to terms with is the complete absence of armor and a very small mass, so you have to be wary of land mines and in no case go for a ram.
LLHMTV
At level 8, we see an improved version of its predecessor in all respects. The one-time damage has increased nicely, approaching the maximum values of light tanks of this tier. Armor penetration is beyond praise, because most medium and even some heavy tanks can envy him. So there won't be any problem with dealing damage.
Comfortable UVNs are retained, the tank has become a little more mobile and maneuverable, and stealth is now the best among classmates. This technique is great for attacking from the flank or going behind enemy lines, so it can affect the outcome of the battle not only as a scout, but also as a support tank, dealing damage.
GGSOR3301 AVR FS
The next stage in the development of British light tanks is no longer as impressive as the previous model, but continues to inherit all its advantages. The performance characteristics of the tank have increased, but not as sharply and tangibly as it was with the LLHMTV. Firepower has remained virtually unchanged, armor penetration is still the main advantage, but now it is inferior to other classes. The car has become more mobile, and stealth is better, second only to the wheeled EBR 90.
There will be no particular desire to leave it in the Angara, it will have to be treated as another passing technique, the last step on the way to the coveted "top ten".
Manticore
The crown of British design thought, the most dangerous representative of his branch. The loud name in honor of the mythical creature justifies its unusual appearance.
The one-time damage has finally caught up with classmates and reached its maximum value. Armor penetration is still the best, but not much ahead of other LTs. The most annoying thing to put up with here is two things:
- sharp deterioration of air pressure from -15…+30° to -8…+8°;
- small ammunition - 20 shells. In the first minutes of the battle, this is not particularly felt, but in the second half there is already a feeling of forced savings, so once again checking the bushes or shooting at the move becomes irrational.
The tank combines high stealth and excellent visibility, which makes it an excellent passive reconnaissance vehicle, and its 105 mm gun can hit an unwary enemy at any moment. It is due to weapons in certain situations that he can take positions for tank destroyers.
Another important nuance to keep in mind is that the Manticore has poor gun stabilization in motion, so the vehicle is unsuitable for dynamic battles:
- long reload, so even one miss can become critical;
- there is no reservation, so you can not count on ricochets;
- any tank can ram off most of its HP.
Results
This branch of tanks, first of all, captivates with high armor penetration, which means less "gold dependence", which is a significant drawback of many LTs in the process of pumping. In addition to this, the entire branch received high invisibility, which slightly compensates for the lack of armor. Combined with high visibility, British light tanks may well earn the title of the best for passive light.
Five Key Tips
For players who decide to upgrade a new branch, we present a small guide in the form of 5 tips for a successful game:
- It is necessary to act cunningly, using your strengths so that the enemy cannot take advantage of the weaknesses. Hide the lack of armor by hiding behind the bushes, fire from reliable shelters and do not be lazy to change position after detection.
- Keep extra escape routes in reserve. Don't take the fight at close range if you can get behind the cover of allies.
- You need to know the cards well in order to choose key positions at the beginning of the battle.
- When choosing equipment, it is better to increase the influence of the pronounced advantages of technology - visibility (stereo tube) and invisibility (camouflage net).
- Do not waste shells thoughtlessly, a limited supply forces you to take every shot responsibly.
