Standard characters are a type of heroes in Genshin Impact, which can be obtained at virtually any time, regardless of the current event banner. They drop as losses during temporary prayer spins and from the standard version, and can also be claimed in some temporary activities.
Almost every one of them has its own event-based alternative, which will be better in almost every way, so the benefits to your account vary greatly. To avoid making a mistake when choosing or upgrading your companions, consider your available companions and desired teams.
All standard levels in Genshin Impact
At the moment the 7.0 update There are only eight Wanderlust characters, which can either drop from any banner, including event and Chronicle ones, or be obtained in rare temporary events, for example, through distribution at the anniversary or The Long Road to PerfectionTheir list may expand over time, as was previously the case with the addition of Tignari, Mizuki, and Dehya, but there is no definitive information on this matter at the moment.
Which standard characters should we take in 2026?
Most often, standard legendaries drop randomly, but in two events you can choose your own companion:
- a permanent event for newbies;
- an event dedicated to the game's anniversary (in 2026 it will be "Steel is Tempered in the Snow").
When choosing a companion, it's best to consider not only its usefulness in completing relevant content but also its ability to complement strong teams. Additionally, consider constellations, which unlock the full potential of standard companions.
Please note that if none of these heroes are needed, but one of them has C6 or is close to it, it is recommended to choose him in order to get Wandering fortune and the ability to level up any character to level 95/100.
Mona

Mona (Hydro, catalyst) — a secondary damage dealer who provides enough status for reactions, attracts enemies' attention, and increases incoming damage with the Omen from his ultimate. With the unlock of the buff Hexenzirkel and by realizing resonance in the team, the girl becomes a strong buffer under Par.
The girl is one of the few standard legions who performs well in squads with Witch characters. If the account has dragon Durin и Witch Nicole, the heroine will be a good driver for normal and charged attacks, especially with constellations. She can also be used to implement resonance. Grand Master Varka, unless there are other suitable allies. Otherwise, it will provide no more than a small Hydro status buff and an Omen buff.
Mizuki

Mizuki (Anemo, Catalyst) — a wind driver whose primary function is to dispel elements cast by allies and deal Dispersion damage. Due to her ability to heal her team, she doesn't need a healer, and after receiving a buff The Witch's Prophecies she plays and from Star scattering.
Currently, she's at her best in groups with Snow-based companions, as her regular Dispel damage can't compete with that of other characters. Yokai herself doesn't have Star Wedge, so to trigger a reaction, she'll need to be teamed with her. dancer Odette or Cryo Traveler as a budget option.

Qiqi

Qiqi (Cryo, one-handed sword) — a support character essential to the squad's survivability. She provides a lot of healing and can resurrect team members at constellations. Her skill also grants Cryo status, and upon reaching level 70, she unlocks the Snezhnaya reaction buff.
The little zombie is suitable both as a first healer for new players, allowing them to survive attacks from strong enemies, and as a support for teams relying on Star Conduit and Star Dispersal. In such teams, she provides a 50% reaction bonus, and at C6, significantly increases the damage of allies' ultimates.

Tighnari
Tighnari (Dendro, bow) — a primary damage dealer who relies on charged shots. His E-class significantly reduces arrow charge time, making gameplay faster and more dynamic than other similar archers, but he can still be challenging to play on mobile devices.
Despite the character's considerable strength, especially in constants, there's currently virtually no endgame content for him, and achieving high damage output will require a significant investment not only in himself but also in his allies, who must provide the necessary status for reactions. Tignari can be leveled up for completion. Imaginarium Theatre, but beyond that it won't make a big contribution to the account's strength.
Jean
Jean (Anemo, one-handed sword) — a support needed for healing the team and unleashing the elements on enemies. Thanks to the short cooldown of abilities and the ability to wear Favonius sword, often used as a "battery" for allies. Its main utility is in the network. "Viridescent Venerer", which reduces enemy resistances.
The current game situation with squads has left practically no room for the heroine anywhere, with the exception of some uses as a full-fledged healer or on specific bosses in Stygian Onslaught to knock them up with a skill. However, if she has her fourth constellation unlocked, she can easily be placed in a support position alongside any Anemo damage dealer, including those using Star Dispersion, to reduce their resistance.

Keqing

Keqing (Electro, one-handed sword) — a primary damage dealer with fast gameplay, using normal and charged attacks to build up her ultimate, which deals massive damage. She provides her own infusion, but requires careful rotation, as incorrect interaction with the stiletto will deprive her of Electro on her sword and force her to wait for the cooldown of her E-power.
She's unlikely to perform well in current endgame content, especially without constellations. Currently, her strongest options are with Dendro allies or through Lunar Charge with Ineffa and Columbine. Without strong teammates or constellations, she can be used for open-world exploration through her convenient stiletto movement.
Diluc

Diluc (Pyro, two-handed sword) He plays the role of a main damage dealer. He relies on sequential activation of several elemental skills, granting him a fiery infusion on his sword, as well as a super ability that deals area-of-effect damage. It's recommended to play with Pyro or Electro companions, as his damage output is significantly lower in Roast.
Although Diluc was once the strongest Pyro hero, there are now numerous alternatives in the game that deal tens of times more damage than him. He can't compete with them even with constellations and well-leveled heroes and allies. It only makes sense to pick him if his constellations are close to C6 or if you love the character and want to diversify your selection of fire damage dealers.
Dehya

Dehya (Pyro, two-handed sword) — a secondary damage dealer with support elements, dealing damage from behind and reducing incoming damage from enemies to allies. He uses his ultimate to punch enemies, but this ability is rarely used in combat, except in C6 builds as a main damage dealer.
Dehya is quite versatile in use, as many damage dealers rely on Pyro Status for reactions, although she's not particularly convenient and will be worse in almost all situations than even a free Xiangling, let alone Durin. Also, without C2, her E-class has too long a window, making her difficult to use even as a backup applicator for a second team.

Conclusions and advice
As of 2026, only three of the entire pool of heroes deserve special consideration: Mona, Mizuki и QiqiThe best lego of them is determined by the need at the moment:
- The first one is worth taking if you have a ready-made squad with Witchcraft heroes on your account, for example, with Venti, Durin, Nicole, Varka and others;
- You can pay attention to the second and third if you want to play with Star Reactions, but don’t like the current heroes from Snezhnaya, for example, Alf Spring and others.
The remaining characters won't be able to compete with the heroes of the current meta, and it's only worth taking them if they have C6 and give Wandering Fortune, or if you like their lore and visuals.

Please make a review article on the limited heroes from 7.1 (Nilu, Bai Zhu, Tiori, Clorinda, Varesa, Tartaglia, etc.)
Which of them are completely useless in 2026, which are useful for regular teams, and which can be used as star players? Am I right in thinking the only decent options there are Clorinda and Varesa?
How can you compare DD, subDD, and sustain? Obviously, the DD is stronger than the last one released/tested, while the supports are for the ages.
For what centuries? Baizhu, Nilu, and Tiori—for centuries, really? In all the packs they could theoretically be included in, they could easily be replaced with someone else without significant losses.
Damn, naturally I'll take Mizuki, although they say Mona is not bad... Chicha has been playing since 3, although I've been playing for half a year, apparently he likes me)
Mona's not bad if she's on Consoles and you know who to play her with and how. She essentially has four teams: Mava is better in Meltdown, Skirk has better slots, and that leaves Arly and Hu Tao, but without Consoles, these characters are weak and there's no point in them.
Oh, I don't have any of them, I only have DD Noda and Snezhnaya.
Well then, Mona is not needed.
What's better to take: C1 for Mizuki (with C2 from Long Walk of Perfection) or Tignari, who I don't have (I have all the standard legendary characters except him)?
Dendro DD is represented by Nefer (С0Р1).
Objectively, Tignari is purely for show right now. Sure, you can just have fun with him in the Abyss, tinker with him, but if Al Haytham has been waiting for buffs for a long time and is suffering, then Tignari is even more so. And Mizuki's C2 is, firstly, to close the Star Dispersion cookblocks that will be available. And yes, Odette is desirable, but even with a GC, the difficulty 5 onslaught on Dispersion bosses is close, but he'll probably manage. Secondly, with Odette, Mizuki's C2 has around 160k DPS... That's... Something on the level of Fleance + Ineffa with Aino, which is pretty impressive. He'll easily close the Abyss. Without Odette, it's sadder, but definitely heads and shoulders above Tignari. And thirdly, any Dendro cookblock, any Dendro boss, will be able to beat Nefer. That's obvious. So why did Tignari give up? What's the mascot on your account? So, yeah. C2 Mizuki.
C1 Mizuki. Tignari is absolutely useless right now, and he can always drop from standard or 50/50. It's better to pick characters that are currently usable.
Mizuki is better, of course. At least the snow one will last a while, especially since the S2 is practically a second Vesna. But the Tignari is only for the theater. I have one and the S1, but only for the theater, where it's fine.
don't forget to add mizuki
Mizuki can now be added too
